摘要: The synthesis of ursolic acid nanoparticles includes dissolving ursolic acid powder in methanol, boiling water for five minutes, and adding the methanol solution to the boiled water dropwise at a flow rate of 0.1-0.3 ml/min under ultrasonic conditions. After sonication for 20 minutes, the contents are stirred for about 15 minutes, and then dried. Particle size distribution studies and TEM micrographs confirm the resulting product comprises nanoparticles. In vitro testing confirms the ursolic acid nanoparticles exhibit greater anticancer activity than conventional-size particles, and that the nanoparticles exhibit antimicrobial effect against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, as well as fungi.

摘要: A system and method for infusion of active ingredients into a delivery device is disclosed. The active ingredients can be loaded into a variety of oral delivery devices, including but not limited to toothpicks, tongue depressors, ice cream sticks and cocktail stirrers. In an embodiment, these delivery devices might be made from various types of wood, one non-limiting example being birchwood. These oral delivery devices can be used to deliver various of the following active ingredients along with inactive ingredients such as flavor, natural, and/or artificial sweeteners, as well as other items not explicitly shown in this list: nicotine, smoking cessation products, caffeine, tetra hydro cannabinol (hereinafter referred to as THC), cannabidiol (hereinafter referred to as CBD), and dietary supplements.

摘要: Disclosed are embodiments of a method of using mustard meal or mustard meal extract. Certain embodiments concern controlling vegetable sprouting, such as potato sprouting. Vegetables, such as potatoes, may be exposed to products resulting from mustard meal, or an extract thereof, contacting water. Other embodiments concern a process for controlling plant pests, such as insects, nematodes, fungi, weeds, and combinations thereof, with specific embodiments being particularly useful for weed suppression. Certain embodiments comprise extracting glucosinolates from plant material, or processed plant material, selected from the family Brassicaceae, particularly from the genera Brassica and Sinapis. Extracted glucosinolates can be hydrolyzed to form active compounds, or alternatively, they can be hydrolyzed in situ, by simultaneously or sequentially applying myrosinase. The extract can be applied to plants, to the soil adjacent to the plant.
