摘要： An apparatus for centrifugal hydromechanical cleaning and polishing has a working cylinder filled with a working medium which is a mixture of working bodies and working fluid. The cylinder is closed by a left and a right cover. The covers are provided with sleeves through which a billet to be cleaned can pass. In the axis of the cylinder there is fixed a perforated pipe which is connected to a feed pump. The left cover is provided with a hole for charging the cylinder with a working medium, which is hermetically closed with a cap. The working cylinder is seated on supporting rolls and is rotated on its axis. In an alternative embodiment of the apparatus, bearing units are pressed-in eccentrically in both covers and billets are positioned in the bearing units and rotated by a transmission mechanism. In both embodiments, as the cylinder rotates, centrifugal forces cause the working bodies to envelop the billets and abrade them. Products of abrasion washed away by circulating working fluid.

摘要： A self-limiting method and apparatus for deburring or rounding sharp edges. Structures which basically comprise a skin which is a surface of revolution with a plurality of upstanding ribs in a pattern forming pockets often have sharp edges on the sides of the ribs, formed by chemical milling or machining operations, with the edges lying along lines substantially parallel to the skin. It is necessary to deburr or round over these sharp edges without damaging or deforming the ribs or skin. To accomplish this, the structure is mounted on a fixture which permits the structure to be rotated around its axis of rotation while the axis is tilted at selected angles. The fixture is positioned above a hopper containing hard, small balls (usually steel). An elevator mechanism lifts the balls to a dispenser above the fixture which has appropriately located slots above the sharp edges to be rounded. Balls are allowed to fall through the slots onto the sharp edges and adjacent areas. The edges gradually rounded over by the impact of the falling balls. When ball size and drop height are properly selected, the edges will be deformed only to the desired radius, after which further impacts have no significant further effect. Adjacent areas of the ribs are substantially uneffected by ball impact. The thin skin areas at the bottom of the pockets are not damaged, since the balls strike the skin at low, glancing angles.

摘要： A gyratory finishing machine, of the type in which the finishing units gyrate about a common center and advantageously rotate about their own axis, is provided with loading and unloading means for loading and unloading selected finishing chambers without stopping the gyration of the other finishing chambers. This is generally accomplished through a null-point producing means for establishing a null-point relation between the selected finishing chamber and the loading and unloading means. The null-point can be established by bringing the selected finishing chamber to said common center, or by causing said loading and unloading means to gyrate in unison with the gyration of the selected finishing chamber. The loading and unloading can be effected while the selected finishing chamber is at the common center or by transferring the selected finishing chamber from the null-point to a remote loading station.

摘要： A method for obtaining vibrational and lateral movement within rotatable receptacles is disclosed. The lateral movement is achieved by the interruption of the simple circular motion of a receptacle by slight projections in the circular path of the receptacles. The interruptions cause the materials within the receptacles to vibrate and move laterally rather than continue in a strict circular path. The interruptions may take the form of studs or projections on the outer circumference of the receptacles being rotated or may take the form of studs or projections located on the means rotating the receptacles. The rotatable receptacles are classically rotated by belts.
