Ink in at least one of the plurality of roller subgroups is supplied to the printing plate mounted on the plate cylinder by rotating the plate cylinder and at least one of the plurality of roller subgroups. An ink supply apparatus is also disclosed.

    摘要: The ink in a printing press, in which a stock of material is being printed in an ongoing printing process, is registered. At least one ink is applied to the stock in several inking zones. A measured value, indicating an ink density, is determined for the at least one ink which is being applied to the stock in the printing process and within the printing press. A relation is formed between the measured ink density for a specific ink in a selected ink zone and a measured ink density value determined for the same ink in at least one other inking zone. The relation between the measured ink density values in different inking zones is formed only if the majority of the inking zones of a specific inking unit of the printing press supply one respective measured ink density value for an ink supplied by that inking unit, and when the measured ink density value reaches at least a predetermined fraction of a preset, desired value in the respective inking zone.

    摘要: An inking unit for the printing couple of a double width printing press includes at least one roller. The inking unit consists of at least one, and possibly two chamber doctor blades. If there are two such chamber doctor blades, they are positioned side-by-side in an axial direction of the roller and they can operate independently of each other. If there is only one chamber doctor blade, it can have a length sufficient to enable the side-by-side positioning of at least four newspaper pages. The chamber doctor blade or blades can be positioned against or out of contact with the roller.

    摘要: In a printer, in order to compensate for non-uniformity of one of or both of film thickness of each pixel by an ink applying characteristic of the printer and fluctuations over time of a surface area, as well as to compensate for positional non-uniformity, new image data is generated from original image data and from the ink applying characteristic of the printer. Even if ink is supplied in a constant amount, an image is formed without non-uniform density. The printer has a simple structure in which a single dam plate (ink key) is provided along an axial direction of an ink moving roller. In ink supply control, a degree of opening of the dam plate is always a constant degree of opening, and an amount of ink supplied per unit time is a constant amount.

The modified conversion curve allows the increasing rate of the opening degree of each of the plural ink fountain keys relative to the increase of the image area ratio of a corresponding zone to be higher than the increasing rate of the main conversion curve of the normal mode.

The side plates are always urged toward the ink fountain roller by compression springs, and are pivotably supported, so that the side plates are automatically brought into intimate contact with the circumferential surface of the ink fountain roller.

    摘要: An ink metering device and method. Ink is fed at a pressure to an orifice. Pressure may be achieved by either an ink pump or a gravity feed. The size of the orifice may be varied according the conditions existing in the printing press. The pressure at which the ink is fed may also be varied. Ink exiting the orifice is fed onto the surface of an ink applicator roll. At a location downstream of the orifice, a control blade is positioned adjacent the outer surface of the ink applicator roll. The distance between the tip of the control blade and the outer surface of the ink applicator roll may be varied using a control blade positioning mechanism. The distance between the tip of the control blade and the outer surface of the ink applicator roll controls the smoothness and/or the thickness of an ink film which is created on the surface of the ink applicator roll. This film is transferred directly to the image or plate cylinder, which is in contact with the outer surface of the ink applicator roll. The area between the control blade, the outer surface of the ink applicator roll and the orifice creates a cavity which includes a meniscus of ink directly behind the control blade. The action of the control blade and the meniscus will ensure that the film of ink on the ink applicator roll is smooth, and therefore that the ink applied to the image or plate cylinder is also smooth.
