    摘要: A differentially pumped vacuum system comprises first, second and third chambers, and a pumping arrangement for evacuating the chambers. The pumping arrangement comprises a compound pump having a first inlet connected to an outlet from the first chamber, a second inlet connected to an outlet from the second chamber, a first pumping section and a second pumping section downstream from the first pumping section, the sections being arranged such that fluid entering the compound pump from the first inlet passes through the first and second pumping sections and fluid entering the compound pump from the second inlet passes through, of said sections, only the second section. The pumping arrangement further comprises a booster pump having an inlet connected to an outlet from the third chamber, and a backing pump having an inlet connected to the exhaust from the booster pump. Fluid exhaust from the compound pump can be conveyed to either a second booster pump inlet or the backing pump inlet as required.

    摘要: A radial-flow exhaust gas turbocharger turbine includes a row of individually adjustable guide vanes, each guide vane mounted on a rotatable shalt supported in the turbine casing. A chord of each guide vane is not greater that a largest diameter of the shaft on which the guide vane is mounted. When viewed in the axial direction, a profile of each vane lies completely within a radially outer contour of the associated shaft. This permits the design of a one-piece adjustable unit formed of a guide vane, a rotatable shaft, and a pivoting lever. The adjustable unit can be inserted into the casing or removed from the casing as a single unit to facilitate installation and maintenance.

The housing has webs extending inwardly from the outlet side of the housing that carry the central driving motor with the rotor disk.     摘要: A process for utilization of the reaction heat generated by the catalytic oxidation of o-xylene with air to phthalic anhydride in a tubular reactor, which heat is partially carried away from the reactor by the reaction gas and partially by fused salt used as a cooling medium. Water is heated by heat exchange with the hot reaction gas, evaporated by heat exchange with the fused salt and the steam is superheated and expanded in a condensation turbine coupled with the feed air compressor. The hot reaction gas is used successively to heat, or evaporate, a heat carrier liquid serving for the heating of the phthalic anhydride distillation, and the pressurized water. Low pressure steam can be generated by heat exchange of pressurized water with the reaction gas and used for heating the feed air and/or o-xylene. Preferably, the evaporation and superheating of the heated pressure water is effected in two fused salt cooling stages; the compressed air is successively heated by heat exchange with low pressure steam generated by cooling of the reaction gas and with the high pressure steam generated by cooling of the fused salt; and, the heating liquid and the pressurized water are heated in a two-stage heat exchanger.

    摘要: A first device for controlling the position of a displacement control member of a variable displacement pump has an actuator connected to the control member and a valve member which is movable between a first position at which a pump discharge pressure signal is in communication with the actuator and a second position at which said pump discharge pressure signal is blocked from communication with the actuator and the actuator is connected to a drain. The valve member has an end substantially continuously exposed to the pump discharge pressure signal and is responsive thereto for biasing the valve member toward one of the first and second positions. A spring apparatus biases the valve member toward the other of said positions in opposition to the biasing force of said pump discharge pressure signal and establishes a preselected minimum discharge pressure. A second device increases the biasing force of the spring apparatus for increasing the pump discharge pressure in response to a load pressure signal exceeding a preselected pressure level. The spring apparatus has a first spring positioned between the second device and the valve member and a second spring positioned between the housing and the valve member. The second spring biases the valve member toward said other position independently of the first spring for maintaining the pump discharge pressure at a preselected value above the load pressure signal only in response to the pump discharge pressure exceeding the preselected minimum discharge pressure level.

    摘要: A separation system is disclosed for obtaining pure components from a fluid mixture employing a minimum amount of energy. A rectification column is utilized in which the fluid mixture is separated into its components whereby the heat addition and cooling required is accomplished by means of a heat pump transfer system. The system transfers heat energy to a working fluid to power a compressor structure in a heat pump cycle by supplying heat to the liquid phase. Compressor structure is disclosed in the forms of an ejector and a turbine-powered compressor. As disclosed, the same working fluid is employed in the power cycle and the heat pump cycle. Specific structures are disclosed for obtaining greater efficiency including an arrangement for heat regeneration in the power loop of the heat pump cycle and also disclosed is an arrangement whereby individual systems are staged for the separation of multicomponent mixtures.
