Abstract:
Managing radio resources across dual networks includes a wireless mobile device connecting to a first wireless network using a first radio access technology. The wireless device may notify the first network of a capability to be temporarily non-responsive to the first network while maintaining a signaling connection to the first network. The wireless device may communicate with a second network. The wireless device may return to communicating with the first network subsequent to communicating with the second network, and in response to communicating with the second network for less than a predetermined amount of time, the wireless device may send a scheduling request to the first network. In response to receiving a grant acknowledgement from the first network, the wireless device may send a buffer status report that includes a value such as zero to indicate that the wireless device has returned to and can communicate with the first network.
Abstract:
A user device receives packets from a base station. The user device may invoke decoding while the packet is still being received, based on the incomplete contents of a given packet. This “partial packet decoding” relies on the fact that the underlying information in the packet is encoded with redundancy (code rate less than one). If link quality is poor, the partial packet decoding is likely to be unsuccessful, i.e., to fail in its attempt to recover the underlying information. To avoid waste of power, the user device may be configured to apply one or more tests of link quality prior to invoking the partial packet decoding on a current packet.
Abstract:
Manipulating modulation and coding scheme (MCS) allocation after a communication interruption. A UE device may resume communications with a BS after a communication interruption. First channel quality information may be generated and transmitted to the BS. A first MCS allocation, which may be based at least in part on the first channel quality information, may be received from the BS. Second channel quality information may be generated and transmitted to the BS, where the second channel quality information is modified by an offset configured to modify a second MCS allocation.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for adaptively adjusting receiver operation for e.g., power optimization. In one embodiment, operation during diversity operation is adaptively adjusted. Diversity techniques consume significantly more power than non-diversity operation. However, the performance gain from receiver diversity is not always predictable. Consequently, in one embodiment, a device evaluates the overall performance gain contributed by diversity operation and, where the performance gain is insignificant or inadequate, the device disables diversity operation. In one implementation, the device can operate in a static single antenna mode, a dynamic single antenna mode and a dynamic multiple antenna mode.
Abstract:
In order to improve the communication performance and communication reliability of an electronic device, a communication quality metric is determined based on information communicated via a wireless network using a single antenna. For example, the communication quality metric may be determined based on acknowledgment (ACK) and negative-acknowledgment (NACK) messages in the communicated information or a number of packets retransmitted and a number of new packets transmitted in the communicated information. Then, one of at least two antennas is selected based on the determined communication quality metric. In this way, the electronic device may effectively use a single receive chain to provide improved communication of the information.
Abstract:
Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing downlink transmission and interlace uplink transmission. For example, some aspects of this disclosure relate to a base station including a transceiver configured to communicate over a wireless network with a user equipment (UE) and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor divides a plurality of candidate Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) positions in a time window into a plurality of groups and communicates, using the transceiver, information associated with the plurality of groups of candidate SSB positions to the UE. The processor further performs a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. In response to the LBT procedure being successful, the processor determines a first group of the plurality of groups and transmits, using the transceiver, one or more SSBs on one or more candidate SSB positions of the first group to the UE.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure are related to a method performed by a user equipment (UE). The method includes selecting a candidate resource set with a plurality of candidate resources from a resource selection window. The plurality of candidate resources includes a reserved resource that is reserved by at least one other UE. The method includes determining that the reserved resource is associated with a priority level PRX that is higher than a transmission priority level PTX associated with the UE. The method further includes excluding the reserved resource from the candidate resource set based at least in part on the determining.
Abstract:
Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to transmit an indication of a link failure on a secondary cell. The indication may be transmitted on resources selected based on one or more conditions. One or more priority rules may be used to resolve collisions. The UE may further make an assumption of a beam or beams to use for communications with the secondary cell following the link failure and prior to receiving an indication from the network of a selected beam.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for PDCCH enhancements for group-based paging indications. A user equipment device may be configured to receive, from a network, an indication of a paging occasion via a PG-RNTI and/or via at least 6 bits of a DCI. A value of the PG-RNTI may be associated with the paging occasion as well as a set of UEs, including the UE. The UE may be configured to monitor the paging occasion based on the value of the PG-RNTI and receive, during the paging occasion, a paging indication via at least six bits of a DCI, where each bit of the at least six bits may indicate a paging indication for a particular set of UEs and the particular set of UEs may be a subset of the set of UEs. The UE may also be configured to, in response to determining that the UE has a paging message, decode a corresponding PDSCH.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing downlink signal reception with antenna panel switching in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station may receive an indication of an antenna panel activation delay from a wireless device. The cellular base station may select a scheduling offset for a transmission to the wireless device based at least in part on the antenna panel activation delay. The scheduling offset may be selected to be at least the length of the antenna panel activation delay if it is expected that the wireless device may perform antenna panel activation to receive the transmission. The cellular base station may schedule the transmission to the wireless device using the selected scheduling offset, and may perform the transmission to the wireless device at the selected scheduling offset after scheduling the transmission to the wireless device.
