Abstract:
A method and system for identification of a deviation from a periodic behavior pattern in a sequence of multimedia content segments are provided. The system comprises receiving the sequence of multimedia content segments; generating at least one signature for each multimedia content segment of the sequence of multimedia content segments; comparing at least two signatures generated for at least two consecutive multimedia content segments to detect a periodic behavior pattern; upon detecting the periodic behavior pattern, comparing at least one signature generated for at least a subsequently received multimedia content segment to at least one signature representing the detected multimedia content segment to identify a deviation from the periodic behavior pattern; and upon identifying the deviation from the periodic behavior pattern, generating a notification with respect to the at least one deviation.
Abstract:
A user (102) hears an audio program being broadcast and can record a sample of the audio. The sample is then conveyed to an analyzing means (106) to determine to which broadcast station the user is listening. The analyzing means monitors many broadcast channels. Thus, characteristics of the audio sample and samples taken from the broadcast channels can be compared to find a match. Broadcast information pertaining to the broadcast channel from which the match was found may then be reported back to the user, combined with an advertisement of a promotion, prize notification, discount offers, and other information specific for a certain radio station for example.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for research data gathering with a portable monitor and a stationary device are described. An example method includes gathering, via a stationary monitoring system, first data concerning exposure to media output by a media receiver, wherein gathering the first data comprises collecting a first code encoded in the media, gathering second data concerning exposure to the media output by the media receiver with a portable monitor carried on the person of a user, wherein the second data comprises a second code encoded in the media, gathering, via the portable monitor, location data encoded in the media by the stationary monitoring system, the location data providing information on a physical location of the portable monitor, and producing the audience measurement data concerning exposure to the media output by the receiver from the first data, the second data, and the location data.
Abstract:
A system and method for tracking and managing playback of advertisements is disclosed. The system includes a processor configured to process the multimedia content, including advertisements, and generate a video signature/audio signature corresponding to the multimedia content. The video/audio signature is subsequently embedded/superimposed on at least one of the frames of the multimedia advertisement. The system further includes a plurality of trackers placed at predetermined geographic locations and configured to detect the broadcast television signal, and determine whether the video signature/audio signature is present in the broadcast signal. Subsequently, the tracker generates a report comprising at least a time stamp indicating the time of broadcast of the advertisement having the audio/video signature.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method comprising the steps of receiving, at a user electronic device from a computer system including at least one computer, a media work and one or more associated tags; receiving, at the user electronic device from a user input device, a query related to at least one of the one or more associated tags; obtaining, at the user electronic device, instructions for an action to be performed based on the query; and performing, at the user electronic device, the associated action, in response to the query.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus to monitor media presentations are disclosed. An example method includes identifying a household of panelists based on a public Internet Protocol address identified in tagging data transmitted by a media presentation device. A panelist is identified within the household of panelists based on metering data. A media source is identified based on the tagging data. Identification of the media presented in association with the tagging data based on at least one of the tagging data and the metering data is attempted. The panelist is credited with exposure to the identified media from the media source at a media presentation location associated with the public IP address when the media is identified. The panelist is credited with exposure to media from the media source at the media presentation location when the media is not identified.
Abstract:
Example methods disclosed herein to identify media sources comprise obtaining monitored signatures generated from monitored media, comparing the monitored signatures with reference signatures generated from reference media provided by a plurality of reference sources, determining tracking segments associated with respective ones of the reference sources, each tracking segment representing sequences of matches between the monitored signatures and respective reference signatures for a respective one of the reference sources, and evaluating time lengths of the tracking segments to identify which reference source in the plurality of reference sources provided the monitored media.
Abstract:
Signaturing methods and apparatus as described. An example method includes applying a first function to a portion of digital data to produce a first windowed block, applying a second function different from the first function to the same portion of the digital data to produce a second windowed block, determining a first characteristic of a band of frequencies in the first windowed block, determining a second characteristic of the band of frequencies in the second windowed block, comparing the first characteristic to the second characteristic, and assigning a signature bit representative of the portion of the digital data based on the comparison of the first characteristic and the second characteristic.
Abstract:
An end user can sample a radio or television broadcast, generate a user representation of the broadcast sample, and send the user representation to a comparison system, which also receives known representations of content broadcast by multiple different stations. The known representations are stored in a continuous fashion, and represent actually broadcast content. The comparison system identifies the source of the broadcast sample by comparing the user representation to the known representations associated with each of the different stations. By comparing two representations of content that was actually broadcast, a broadcast source can be identified without requiring the use of watermarks, timestamps, or a database of discreet content items.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for synchronizing devices that produce identifiable characteristics from audio media. A device receives audio and produces initial time data. Subsequent time data is received at a coupling interface from a portable device that has access to accurate time sources. The subsequent time data is processed to determine if it is more accurate than the initial time data. If so, the clock of the device is updated to reflect the second time data. The device then processes the audio media to generate at least one identifiable characteristic relating to the audio, which may include ancillary codes and/or audio signatures. The identifiable characteristics are then transmitted together with the subsequent time data for detection.
