The invention relates to the provision of services. According to the invention, a service session supervision platform (10) is disposed between an access network (1) and an input node (12) of a service-hosting network. During the provision of a service, at least one atomic section is first defined, said section consisting of a determined sequence of events which are involved in message exchanges with a subscriber. The supervision platform detects and flags events forming the beginning or end of an atomic section in a service session in progress for a subscriber by means of the access network. A communication interrupt request from a subscriber is processed by ascertaining if an atomic section is in progress for said subscriber according to the atomic section beginnings and ends flagged by the supervision platform, in order to determine whether or not the communication must be interrupted immediately.

This apparatus for testing an asymmetric digital subscriber line includes, arranged in a case, a low-frequency signal generator which generator is adapted to be connected to an input terminal block of an access multiplexer of a telephone exchange and which generator is adapted to inject into the latter a signal simulating the presence of a telephone line, an amplifier linked to a speaker and intended to be connected to an output terminal block of the said multiplexer and intended to retrieve and amplify the signal transmitted by the generator to an audible level, and a modem intended to be connected to the said output terminal block to test a modem of the access multiplexer by checking synchronization between these modems.

Enhanced speech recognition accuracy is provided by using geographic data, illustratively related to the geographic location of a mobile device, to automatically select a subset of words for use with a speech recognition procedure. The subset of words is selected from an element database including words that describe elements at each of a plurality of locations. Geographic data includes at least one of global positioning system (GPS) position data, cell identity (Cell-ID) data, caller identification (Caller ID) data, place name data, or zip code data. Elements include at least one of street names, businesses, merchants, points of interest, transportation facilities, individual households, activities, and landmarks. By selecting a subset of words, the total number of words used in the speech recognition procedure is substantially reduced, thereby improving speech recognition accuracy.
