    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing slurry hydroconversion of feeds that include substantial amounts of 1050° F+ (566° C+) components. The productivity of the slurry hydroconversion reaction is improved by recycling slurry hydroconversion pitch or bottoms back to the slurry hydroprocessing reaction system. The mass flow rate of the recycle stream can correspond to 50% or more of the mass flow rate of the fresh feed to the reaction system, and the recycle stream can include more than 50 wt % of 566° C+ components. It has been discovered that using a substantial recycle stream composed of a majority of unconverted 566° C+ bottoms can increase the productivity of the slurry hydroprocessing reaction system when operating at a net conversion relative to 524° C (975° F) of less than 90 wt %. Additionally, by using a recycle stream composed of a majority of 566° C+ components, the amount of lower boiling components (in the heavy hydrocarbon feed and/or in the recycle stream) that are exposed multiple times to the slurry hydroprocessing environment is reduced or minimized This can allow for formation of slurry hydroconversion products with increased amounts of vacuum gas oil boiling range components.

    Abstract: Provided herein are functionalized branched alcohols comprising a glycosyl group, an ethylene oxide linker and a tail. The ethylene oxide linker comprises one or more units of ethylene oxide. The glycosyl group is a substituent structure of a cyclic monosaccharide. The tail comprises a branched paraffin or isomers thereof, the glycosyl group is attached to the ethylene oxide linker, and the ethylene oxide linker is attached to the tail. In an aspect, the glycosyl group is a substituent structure of glucose, mannose, galactose, sorbose, fructose, xylose, arabinose, ribose, lyxose, lactose, or maltose, or variants thereof. The tail can be a paraffin comprising 9 to 13 carbon atoms.

    Abstract: Distillate boiling range and/or diesel boiling range compositions are provided that are formed from crude oils with unexpected combinations of high naphthenes to aromatics weight and/or volume ratio and a low sulfur content. This unexpected combination of properties is characteristic of crude oils that can be fractionated to form distillate/diesel boiling range compositions that can be used as fuels/fuel blending products with reduced or minimized processing. The resulting distillate boiling range fractions and/or diesel boiling range fractions can have an unexpected combination of a high naphthenes to aromatics weight and/or volume ratio, a low but substantial aromatics content, and a low sulfur content. By reducing, minimizing, or avoiding the amount of hydroprocessing needed to meet fuel and/or fuel blending product specifications, the fractions derived from the high naphthenes to aromatics ratio and low sulfur crudes can provide fuels and/or fuel blending products having a reduced or minimized carbon intensity.

    Abstract: A method for identifying sensor drift can include: setting an autocorrelation threshold for a sensor in a long-short term memory (LSTM) model developed based on historical process measurements from an analogous sensor to a sensor; collecting measured data from the sensor; applying the LSTM model to the measured data from the sensor, wherein applying the LSTM model comprises: applying the LSTM model to the measured data from the sensor to yield LSTM predicted data; calculating key performance indicators (KPIs) of the LSTM data based on an accumulated slow drift error (ASDE) model, wherein the KPIs comprise an error, an accumulated prediction error, an accumulated slow-drift error, and an estimated autocorrelation; and identifying sensor drift when the estimated autocorrelation violates the autocorrelation threshold.
