Abstract:
A medical device has an interior for containment of fluids; an opening into the interior, an elastomeric wall comprising a fixedly placed, flexible barrier across the opening; and a retention wall positioned adjacent to a peripheral portion of the elastomeric wall. The retention wall defines a central opening and has a generally rigid retention zone surrounding the central opening, to engage and retain a connector tube which is advanced into the central opening to displace the elastomeric wall and to open a flow aperture through the elastomeric wall, for flow through the wall and connector tube. One of the retention zone and connector tube are made of a material of sufficient hardness that material of the other engaging member is deformed by engagement therewith, which increases the strength of retention between the retention wall and the connector tube.
Abstract:
Method and system for querying a collection of unstructured and semi-structured documents in a specified database to identify presence of, and provide context and/or content for, keywords and/or keyphrases. The documents are analyzed and assigned a node structure, including an ordered sequence of mutually exclusive node segments or strings. Each node has an associated set of at least four, five or six attributes with node information and can represent a format marker or text, with the last node in any node segment usually being a text node. A keyword (or keyphrase) query is specified, the query is converted to a statement that is recognized and respondeed to by the specified database, and the last node in each node segment is searched for a match with the keyword. When a match is found at a query node, or at a node determined with reference to a query node, the system displays the context and/or the content of the query node.
Abstract:
A method comprising generating a transfer configuration descriptor (“TCD”), said TCD comprising information pertaining to data to be transferred. The method further comprises dynamically configuring a direct memory access (“DMA”) channel based on said TCD without using a CPU and transferring a group of data blocks by way of said DMA channel.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the present disclosure describes a power adjustment process. The process for power distribution regulation includes filtering data from electrical sensors to provide conditioned data representative of a portion of a power distribution grid and determining, by a controller and based in part on the conditioned data, when an increase or decrease in an output parameter from one regulator of a plurality of regulators in the power distribution grid will reduce system power consumption. The process also includes increasing or decreasing the associated output electrical parameter in response to the controller determining that such will reduce system power consumption.
Abstract:
The mobile data collection system includes a positioning system, such as a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and/or an Inertial Navigation System (INS), to generate position and time data. A down looking line scan camera for mounting on a vehicle, obtains a series of line scan images of a path, such as a road. A data collection controller is connected to the positioning system and the line scan camera to associate the line scan images with the corresponding position and time data. A database stores the line scan images and associated corresponding position and time data. An image processor identifies and marks features in the line scan images.
Abstract:
This invention relates to targeted delivery of anti-viral compounds through protein bioconjugation. More particularly, it relates to an anti-viral compound conjugated to a protein, such as hemoglobin and to a method of treating a viral infection using said conjugate. The invention also provides a method of targeted drug delivery of an anti-viral nucleoside analogue to macrophages, cells comprising a hemoglobin receptor and to CD163 bearing cells.
Abstract:
A tubular set portion for circulating blood between a patient and an extracorporeal blood treatment device. The set portion has: an arterial tube for conveying blood from a patient toward the blood treatment device; a venous tube for conveying blood from the blood treatment device back towards the patient; and a pair of spaced, transverse tubes that each connect between the arterial tube and the venous tube, each of the tubes being capable of clamp sealing. The arterial and venous tubes are clamp sealable between the spaced, transverse tubes. Flow reversal on the patient's side of this device is possible by appropriate clamping of two opposed tube sections of the rectangular array which may be formed by the joined tube sections, while flow remains unchanged on the side of the tubular set portion that is connected to the extracorporeal blood treatment device.
Abstract:
A medical needle protector sheath comprises a tubular body for surrounding and shielding a needle with the sheath defining an anchor member integrally attached to the front of the body for manual holding, plus a closure cap for the front end which is integrally attached to the body. Also, a manually removable wing member may be carried about the hub of the needle. A tunnel member typically of the inverted U-cross section provides longitudinal securance to the needle and hub while penetrating the skin of the patient while at the same time permitting axial rotation of the needle.
Abstract:
A pest trap apparatus having a trap chamber attached to an entry channel, a drop cover having a trap door disposed within the trap chamber, such that the trap door provides a floor to the trap chamber, a shuttle box nested within the trap chamber and supported by the trap door, a sensor associated with the trap chamber, the sensor being configured to generate and transmit a signal upon detecting a pest, a striker in electrical communication with the sensor, such that upon receiving the signal from the sensor, the striker is configured to impact and rotate the trap door downward, thus dropping the shuttle box within the trap chamber to prevent escape of pests and sending pests within the trap chamber down into a trap chute below the trap chamber, and an actuator configured to reset the trap door by rotating it upward to reengage with a trap latch.
Abstract:
The apparatus is a portable three-in-one food griller, food smoker and fire pit in which the sidewalls can nest into a compact self-contained unit for easy transportation. In one variation, there are five rectangles with four walls that encompass a void that can be configured and stacked for use as a grill, a smoker or a fire pit. The bottom rectangle can contain an adjustable air inlet door and a grate for holding a fire source. The top rectangle can contain an adjustable air outlet door in the ceiling with a thermometer. The second, third and forth rectangles can contain various configurations of grates for grilling food, smoking food or use as a fire pit. After use, rectangles two through five can fit and nest into the first rectangle (the base) and be latched to the floor section forming a self-enclosed compact and transportable rectangle box with a carrying handle.
