Abstract: The present teachings provide an attaching member to be attached to a blood purification apparatus including peristaltic pumps, the attaching member holding pump tubes to be squeezed in a predetermined direction by the respective peristaltic pumps for liquid delivery. The attaching member includes a body attachable to a predetermined position of the blood purification apparatus, and holding portions attached to the body and that hold the pump tubes. The holding portions are attached to edge portions on two opposite sides of the body, and flexible tubes that each allow liquid to flow through are to be placed in a central portion of the body, the central portion being positioned between the holding portion on one of the edge portions and the holding portion on the other of the edge portions.

Abstract: A method for electrochemically filtering a bodily fluid in the treatment of a disease includes a pump to circulate the fluid through a collection container and an electromagnetic charging system. One of the cathode and anode leads is connected to a collection plate while the other of the cathode and anode leads is connected a patient to be treated. Inlet and outlet catheters are connected to patient to be treated. A predetermined voltage is applied across the anode lead and the cathode lead from a DC power supply, wherein circulating fluid from the patient passes through the collection container for removal of charged biological materials onto the collection plate. The fluid is returned back to the patient by the pump system.

In the first position the needle (35) is completely enclosed by the protective body (29) and in the second position the needle (35) protrudes from the second aperture (31) to pierce the sampling or infusion site (20).

Abstract: A renal failure therapy system having an electrically floating fluid pathway is disclosed. The example system includes a dialyzer, a blood circuit in fluid communication with the dialyzer, and a dialysis fluid circuit in fluid communication with the dialyzer. The system also includes an electrically floating fluid pathway comprising at least a portion of the blood circuit and at least a portion of the dialysis fluid circuit. The only electrical path to ground is via used dialysis fluid traveling through the renal failure therapy system to earth ground. The disclosed system enables at least one electrical component in the at least a portion of the dialysis fluid circuit of the electrically floating fluid pathway to be electrically bypassed.

Abstract: Systems and sensor clip assemblies for optically monitoring blood flowing through a blood chamber are provided. A sensor clip assembly includes emitters and photodetectors positioned on opposing arms, a signal conditioning circuit for conditioning raw analog signals generated by the photodetectors while the sensor clip assembly is fastened to a blood chamber, and an analog-to-digital converter for converting the conditioned analog signals to raw digital data. The sensor clip assembly may output the raw digital data to an external device and receive synchronized control signals from the external device, or the sensor clip assembly may include a microcontroller for performing calculations on the raw digital data and providing synchronized control signals internally. Parameters of blood flowing through the blood chamber such as hematocrit, oxygen saturation, and change in blood volume may be calculated from the raw digital data derived from the raw analog signals generated by the photodetectors.

Abstract: The invention concerns a device for extra-corporal blood treatment, including an extra-corporal blood circulation for the pumping of blood, where individual components of the extra-corporal blood circulation are inside and outside of a casing of the device, and a base socket is attached below the casing, which includes a collection trough in which liquids leaking inside the casing can be collected.
