Abstract:
In an information access system, a first reader/writer device cyclically transmits an information request signal at a first frequency in a first period and goes into an inactive state in a second period, and a second reader/writer device cyclically transmits an information request signal at the first frequency in the second period and goes into an inactive state in the first period. An active contactless information storage device senses a carrier of an RF signal at the first frequency in predetermined periods occurring in a predetermined cycle shorter than each of the first and second periods.
Abstract:
A reader device of a location determination system gradually changes a transmission power step by step and repeatedly sends an interrogation signal which contains therein information on a power level indicating the transmission power. A tag of the location determination system receives the interrogation signal, sends a response signal into which the information on the power level contained in the interrogation signal is incorporated. The reader device receives the response signal and sends, to a management device, the information on the power level contained in the response signal and identification information for identifying the subject reader device. The management device detects the position of the tag based on the information on the power level and the identification information thus received.
Abstract:
In a reader and writer device, a sleep period setter determines an identification in a received response, and a length of a sleep period depending on a number of received identifications, a first transmitter transmits either an information request or an information and sleep request carrying the sleep length and the received identification, and a first receiver receives a response carrying an identification. In each of information storage devices, a second receiver senses a carrier, and receives the information request or the information and sleep request in response to carrier detection, and a second transmitter, in response to the information request or the information and sleep request carrying no identification of that device, transmits a response carrying the identification of that device, and, in response to the information and sleep request carrying the identification of that device, is in an inactive state during the sleep time period.
Abstract:
An information device capable of performing wireless communication with a reader/writer device, a method, and a computer-readable medium are provided. The device includes a reception section that detects an information request signal transmitted from a reader/writer device and a transmission section that transmits a signal to the reader/writer device in response to the detection of an information request signal. The device also includes a detection data acquisition section that acquires detection data corresponding to a physical quantity or state from a sensor and a detection data storage section that stores the detection data. The device includes a control section that activates the detection data acquisition section at time intervals and inputs the acquired detection data into the detection data storage section and another control section that activates the reception section at other time intervals.
Abstract:
A wireless apparatus for determining a phase difference of a received RF signal, and method. The apparatus includes antennas displaced from each other by a predetermined distance for receiving an RF signal. The apparatus also includes an exclusive OR (EXOR) circuit comparing binary signals derived from the received RF signal that are associated with respective antennas. An absolute phase difference is based on a pulse width of the comparison.
Abstract:
An apparatus for determining a position of a mobile wireless station comprises means for determining the position of the mobile wireless station in accordance with a position of a first reference wireless station, a position of a second reference wireless station, a first relative angular direction between the mobile wireless station and the first reference wireless station, and a second relative angular direction between the mobile wireless station and the second reference wireless station.
Abstract:
An information access system includes: a passive contactless information storage device (500) capable of transmitting and receiving signals; a fixed-station information processing device (100) having an information processing unit, and a wireless transmitter for transmitting, in a contactless manner, a command signal for requesting transmission of information stored in the information storage device and supplying power in a contactless manner to the information storage device; and a mobile-station information processing device (200) having an information processing unit, an information presenting unit, a battery, and a wireless receiver for receiving a response signal for response to the command signal, from the information storage device in a contactless manner. While the fixed-station device is supplying power to the information storage device in the contactless manner, the information storage device transmits, in response to the command signal, the response signal to the mobile-station device in the contactless manner.
Abstract:
A method for reduction of an allyl alcohol-type compound, specific to its allylic hydroxyl group, being carried out without any side reactions such as reduction of other portions of the compound or allylic rearrangement, which comprises treating the compound with trialkylsilane in the presence of AlX.sub.3, wherein X refers to a halogen atom.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a synthesis method favorable for the industrial production of a benzoic acid derivative having a retinoid activity of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein the derivative can be obtained by a simple procedure in safety with high yield.Specifically, this invention relates to a synthesis method characterized in that only one vessel is needed for several reactions in the different steps of subjecting acetanilide as a starting material, which is readily available and safe to handle, to Friedel-Crafts reaction with 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-dichlorohexane; subjecting the thus obtained compound to acyl exchange reaction with monomethyl ester terephthalic chloride, followed by hydrolysis; and recrystallizing from a mixture of methanol and water. Moreover, the crystals in novel form obtained by the synthesis method of this invention are suitable for formulation, because the amount of solvents remaining therein after recrystallization is small and the grain size thereof is uniform.
Abstract:
A digital X-ray image processing apparatus for exposing an X-ray transmitted through an object onto a photostimulable phosphor plate, for scanning the photostimulable phosphor plate by using an excitation beam to obtain an X-ray image, and for reading the X-ray image. The digital X-ray image processing apparatus includes an image storage unit for storing the X-ray image used for an actual read when diagnosing the object and a histogram storage unit for storing a standard histogram of the X-ray image. The standard histogram is formed by an intensity and frequency of the X-ray. Also provided is a first monitor unit for displaying the standard histogram read out from the histogram storage unit and a read conditions determination unit for determining actual read conditions of the X-ray image based on a latitude of the intensity of the X-ray in the standard histogram.
