Abstract:
The invention is related to a battery backup system comprising a power cell array, a controller, and a power inverter. The power cell array may include power cells and a charger to provide electrical power to the power cells. The power cells may include a battery for storing and discharging electrical power, a control input, and a feedback output connected to the controller. The controller may control the operational state of the power cells between a charge state and a power state. The controller may also include a feedback input, and a control output connected to the power cells. The power inverter may convert electrical power discharged from the power cell array to drive the charger and a load.

Abstract:
A process for caching data in a cache memory includes upon detecting that a first page is in a first or second list, the first page is moved to a most recently used (MRU) position in the second list. Upon detecting that the first page is in a first history list, a first target size is updated to a second target size for the first and second lists, the first page is moved from the first history list to the MRU position in the second list, and the first page is fetched to the cache memory. Upon detecting that the first page is in a second history list, the second target size is updated to a third target size for the first and second lists, and the first page is moved from the second history list to the MRU position in the second list.
Abstract:
System for renting a cellphone, ipad or other electronic device for temporary use. Plurality of cellphones, ipads or other electronic devices are categorized and barcoded. A vending machine that receives a credit card information and request to rent one of the cellphones/ipads or other electronic devices from a user, releases the cellphone/ipad or other electronic device to a bar code reader which send the barcode information to a central processing unit that creates a user account and associates it with the credit card information and initiates timer. The timer is stopped when the same barcode is received by the processing unit and the user account is retrieved, then the credit card is charged with a calculated usage by the central processing unit. A rented cellphone, ipad or other electronic device may be authorized to access a remote central server for multimedia content.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of providing secondary content on a mobile device, the secondary content associated with a controller, the secondary content being a member of one of a plurality of content categories, the method comprising: displaying primary content on an interface of the mobile device; receiving the secondary content at the mobile device; applying a visual property to the controller, the visual property identifying the content category that the secondary content is a member of; after receiving the secondary content at the mobile device, displaying the controller on the interface of the mobile device such that the controller does not visually interfere with the displayed primary content; receiving input selecting the controller; and in response to receiving the input, displaying the secondary content associated with the controller on the interface of the mobile device.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides cassettes and methods of using same for the delivery of fluids to a patient using fluid delivery systems. In a general embodiment, the cassettes of the present disclosure include a flexible tube, a housing having a recessed area and first and second ends for holding the flexible tube, and at least two additional components including, for example, different sensors, false reading components for sensors, anti-flow valve means, insertion guides, directional indicators, latch mechanisms, kink-prevention notches, etc. Such additional components provide the cassettes of the present disclosure with several advantages including, for example, quality control, efficiency of use, cost effectiveness, and safety of use.
Abstract:
An elastic hysteretic palpatory training apparatus includes a plunger, a solenoid disposed around a longitudinal axis of the plunger, and a controller for controlling electrical power supplied to the solenoid as a function of a palpatory force applied to an end of the plunger and a position of the plunger in the solenoid in response to the applied palpatory force whereupon the plunger emulates at least one of the following: an elastic material responding to the application of the palpatory force thereto or a series of elastic materials being engaged one-at-a-time in response to the application of the palpatory force thereto.
Abstract:
A novel method to fabricate a needle includes stamping an elongated shape in a flat metal sheet. The elongated shape defines a longitudinal axis and two edges that are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. Each of the two edges includes an inward curve with relative alignment to create a relatively narrow neck. A longitudinal channel is formed to give the elongated shape a U-shaped cross-section in a plane normal to the longitudinal axis. The method includes punching through the neck with a punch that slides along a punching axis that intersects the longitudinal axis with an angle in the range 15° to 50°. Alternatively the method includes coining a thinned region that spans the neck and may define a V-shape in a major plane of the flat metal sheet, and separating the elongated shape along the thinned region after coining.
Abstract:
A stent graft (2) for treatment of an emergency rupture of, for instance, the aorta adjacent the aortic bifurcation. The stent graft comprising a tubular body (8) with a bifurcation (10) in the tubular body defining a first long leg (12) and a second short leg (14). The second leg has a valve arrangement (18) to prevent fluid flow through the second leg from the stent graft. The valve can be opened from external of the stent graft for the placement of a leg extension stent graft (90) therethrough.
