Abstract:
A foldable road marker is formed of a pair of panels each having a central stem portion integrally connected with side panel portions. The panels each having an elongated slot with the stem portion and slots being coaxial. Each stem portion is fitted within the slot of the opposite panel for interconnecting the panels. The panels are pivotable relative to each other into a position in which they are transverse to each other or, alternatively, into a folded position in which they are generally parallel and closely overlap to each other for storage. Guide members are formed in the slots of each of the panels for slideably fitting within vertically arranged guide channels formed in the stem portions of their opposite panel for guiding the assembly of, and the positions of, the panels relative to each other. Detents are provided for holding the panels in their transverse position for marker use or, alternatively, in their folded, parallel storage position. The upper ends of the panels are provided with seats for mounting signaling devices, such as lights and the like. A ring-like, removable base may be provided to encircle the lower end of the transversely arranged panels for stabilizing and supporting the lower ends of the panels upon a road surface.
Abstract:
A low profile gimbal system is provided to greatly reduce the generation of moments about a pivot point of the gimbal system during polishing processes. The gimbal system is adjustable so that a preferred balance between stiffness and friction may be selected as appropriate for a variety of different polishing conditions. A locking feature ensures that the adjustment setting is maintained during polishing.
Abstract:
A shielded magnetic attachment apparatus is provided, having engaged and disengaged configurations, and comprising: at least one magnet; a first casing comprising ferromagnetic material attached to one side of the at least one magnet; a second casing comprising ferromagnetic material operably magnetically attachable to the at least one magnet; and a release mechanism attached to either the first or second casing for transitioning the shielded magnetic attachment apparatus from the engaged to the disengaged configuration; wherein the shielded magnetic attachment apparatus is in the engaged configuration when the at least one magnet provides a magnetic force which acts to keep the shielded magnetic attachment apparatus in the engaged configuration, and the shielded magnetic attachment apparatus is in the disengaged configuration when not in the engaged position.
Abstract:
Methods and devices for controlled evaporation of solvent from a solution are provided. In one embodiment, a method for controlled evaporation of solvent from at least one solution includes filling a selected first set of wells in a multi-well plate with a first solution comprising at least one first solvent. The method also includes attaching an inlet manifold to the plate, the inlet manifold comprising an inlet port connected to and in fluid communication only with each of the wells in the selected first set of wells. The method further includes attaching an exhaust manifold to the plate, the exhaust manifold comprising an exhaust port connected to and in fluid communication only with each of the wells in the selected first set of wells. The method also includes introducing a gas into the inlet port and removing solvent vapor from the selected first set of wells.

Abstract:
An offshore, deep-water crane including a support structure, a lifting arm secured to the support structure and extending therefrom, and at least one lifting rope extending from the support structure towards an end of the lifting arm remote from the support structure is disclosed. The lifting rope has a specific gravity less than 3 and a traction winch for moving the at least one lifting rope from the support structure along the arm and vice versa.
Abstract:
An anonymous trading system comprises an interconnected network of broking nodes arranged in cliques which receive buy and sell orders from trader terminals via connected trading engines and which match persistent orders, executed deals and distribute price information to trader terminals. The system has the ability for a trader to call out for a quote (request for a quote) anonymously. RFQs are only transmitted on to potential counterparties if they are within a predetermined price range. The RFQs include a price at which the requesting party is willing to deal, but this price is not communicated potential counterparties. Counterparty responses are matches on a time, price basis and non-matched responses may be matched with themselves. Similarly, non-matched RFQs may be matched with each other.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a volume displacement pipette that includes a channel within the piston. The channel allows for cleaning fluids to be continuously run through the pipette tip for cleaning the tip. One end of the channel may be closed during normal operation of the pipette. Multiple pipettes may be combined into an array pipetter.
