Abstract:
This invention concerns a juicer, that is a machine for extracting the juice from fruit and vegetables. Such machines are used domestically, and also commercially in restaurants, cafes and juice bars. The invention comprises an electric motor, a shredder mounted for rotation by the motor, a feed tube to deliver pieces to be juiced to the shredder for juicing, wherein the feed tube has an inner diameter of more than 75 mm, and three, or more, inwardly directed formations are arranged to constrict the interior of the feed tube. The inner diameter of the feed tube may be large enough for a typical apple to pass through it whole such as 85 mm or more. The inwardly directed formations serve to prevent the insertion of a hand or arm into or through the feed tube despite its large diameter.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use of a compound of formula (I), in which Z, X, T, A, R1, R2, p and q have any of the meanings defined herein, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or in vivo hydrolysable esters, in the treatment of a disease or condition mediated by monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). Certain of the components of formula (I) are novel and are provided, together with pharmaceutical compositions thereof, as further features of the invention.
Abstract:
An infusion device is provided for use with an intravenous catheter connected to a primary fluid supply. A Y site (92) is in fluid communication with the catheter (90). The infusion device is releasably connectable with the Y site (92) to connect a secondary fluid supply (97) to the catheter (40). The infusion device includes a retractable needle (70) that is retractable after use.
Abstract:
A catheter insertion device is provided that includes an insertion needle that is retractable into the device after use to prevent exposure to the contaminated needle. The needle retainer releasably retains the needle in an extended position against the bias of the biasing element. When the catheter is removed from the insertion device, the needle retainer automatically releases the needle, which is propelled rearwardly into the device. A device for inserting a guide wire into a patient is also provided. The device includes an insertion needle that is retractable into the housing of the device after use. A needle retainer releasably retains the needle in an extended position against the bias of the biasing element. After the guide wire is inserted into the patient, the needle retainer allows the needle to be released, so that the needle is retracted into the device.
Abstract:
A computer-based system for using a relational database to dynamically configure an application program easily comprises a relational database including first table means containing first data, second table means containing configuration data, and an engine coupled to the relational database for using the configuration data to configure manipulation of the first data. The engine uses the configuration data to configure the appearance of the user interface, to configure the fields being displayed, to configure the expected type of information to be received, to configure the privileges of the user, to configure the column headers, etc.
Abstract:
The invention concerns quinazoline derivatives of the formula I ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 is a direct link or a group such as CO, C(R.sup.2).sub.2 and CH(OR.sup.2);wherein Q.sup.1 is phenyl, naphthyl or a 5- or 6-membered heteroaryl moiety and Q.sup.1 optionally bears up to 3 substituents;wherein m is 1 or 2 and each R.sup.1 may be a group such as hydrogen, halogeno and trifluoromethyl; andwherein Q.sup.2 may be phenyl or a 9- or 10-membered bicyclic heterocyclic moiety and Q.sup.2 optionally bears up to 3 substituents;or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof;processes for their preparation, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and the use of their receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitory properties in the treatment of proliferative disease such as cancer.
