Abstract:
A moulding machine (10) comprises a moulding station (20). The moulding station (20) comprises a support (70) and an insulated enclosure (30). The insulated enclosure (30) has an open able aperture (40). The moulding station (20) is controllable such that the support (70) can rotate the insulated enclosure (30) between a filling position where the open able aperture (40) is upwardly open and an emptying position where the open able aperture (40) is downwardly open. A mould (50) is placed completely within the insulated enclosure (30). The mould (50) includes an open able entrance. The insulated enclosure (30) includes a heat source (80) for heating the external surfaces of the mould. In use, a first powdered plastic to form a shell of the moulding is formed into an outer skin coated on the internal surfaces of the mould. A second material is then formed into an inner skin on the inside surfaces of the outer skin. The moulding is then heated to cause the inner skin to form an expanded core. Accordingly a moulding having an outer shell and expanded core is produced.
Abstract:
A safety needle-bearing medical advice (10) is provided. Specifically, a safety device for injecting medicinal fluid into a patient is provided. The device comprises a hollow housing (20), a needle assembly (40) and a plunger (30). The needle assembly (40) releasably retains a needle (43) in an extended position in which the sharpened tip of the needle is exposed for use. At the end of an injection stroke, the plunger (30) engages the needle assembly (40), such that the needle (43) is released and retracted into a cavity (38) within the plunger. The device (10) includes structure for reducing the dead-space volume, which represents the amount a fluid remaining in the device at the end of an injection stroke. In addition, preferably the device (10) includes structure for minimizing the volume of potential air bubbles trapped in the medicinal fluid prior to an injection.
Abstract:
An adjustable infusion injection apparatus which is designed to be used in conjunction with a surgically implanted infusate injection port. The apparatus utilizes a catheter assembly and an introducer needle assembly. The catheter assembly is to be installed on the skin of the patient in alignment with the port and the introducer needle is to be inserted in conjunction with the catheter assembly to insert a catheter within an internal chamber of the port and then the introducer needle is then removed with the catheter to then be used to inject medication from an inlet tube. During installation a movable portion of said catheter assembly can be moved to abuttingly be in contact with the skin of the patient.
Abstract:
A storage bin having a mechanism (2) for wrapping objects to be stored in the bin. The bin comprises two trays (4,5) configured to receive a roll of self-adhesive film (3). Two rollers (6,7) are rotated in an insertion direction (30) by a driving mechanism so as to cause an object (9) to pass between the rollers (6,7) into a container (1) as the object (9) becomes wrapped in the self-adhesive film (3).
Abstract:
The invention concerns quinazoline derivatives of the formula I wherein X1 is a direct link or a group such as CO, C(R2)2 and CH(OR2); wherein Q1 is phenyl, naphthyl or a 5- or 6-membered heteroaryl moiety and Q1 optionally bears up to 3 substituents; wherein m is 1 or 2 and each R1 may be a group such as hydrogen, halogeno and trifluoromethyl; and wherein Q2 may be phenyl or a 9- or 10-membered bicyclic heterocyclic moiety and Q2 optionally bears up to 3 substituents; or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof; processes for their preparation, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and the use of their receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitory properties in the treatment of proliferative disease such as cancer.
Abstract:
A catheter insertion device is provided that includes an insertion needle that is retractable into the device after use to prevent exposure to the contaminated needle. The needle retainer releasably retains the needle in an extended position against the bias of the biasing element. When the catheter is removed from the insertion device, the needle retainer automatically releases the needle, which is propelled rearwardly into the device. A device for inserting a guide wire into a patient is also provided. The device includes an insertion needle that is retractable into the housing of the device after use. A needle retainer releasably retains the needle in an extended position against the bias of the biasing element. The needle retainer engages the guide wire so that when the guide wire is removed from the insertion device, the needle retainer automatically releases the needle, which is propelled into the device.
Abstract:
A valve cover for enclosing an underground area surrounding the actuating mechanism of a flow control valve. The valve cover includes a body having a structure configured to position the valve cover in a desired orientation relative to the flow control valve. This positioning structure may be at least partially elastomeric, and configured to resiliently deform and urge against the flow control valve when the valve cover body is placed over the valve actuating mechanism. This maintains the valve cover body seated in a centered, leveled orientation relative to the valve actuating mechanism. The positioning structure may also be formed as a spacer configured to contact the valve actuating mechanism itself and space the actuating mechanism from the valve cover body. The valve cover body is configured so that, when it is installed, a valve tool may be freely inserted into the enclosed underground area and operatively engaged with the valve actuating mechanism.
Abstract:
The invention concerns pharmaceutically useful indoles of formula (I), in which Z, X, T, A, R1, R2, p and q have any of the meanings defined herein, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or in vivo hydrolysable esters, as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The novel compounds possess inhibitory activity against monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). The invention further concerns the use of such indoles in the treatment of a disease or condition mediated by MCP-1.
Abstract:
A needle-bearing device for injecting medicinal fluid from a pre-filled cartridge is provided. After use, the needle is retracted into the body of the device to prevent inadvertent contact with the sharpened end of the needle. In one embodiment, the invention provides a manually actuable button that effectuates retraction of the needle after use. In another embodiment, retraction is effectuated automatically after the injection is complete.
