    Abstract: An active hinge including a hood bracket for attachment to a vehicle hood, a body bracket for attachment to a vehicle body, and a deploy bracket pivotally connected to the hood bracket and the body bracket. A pawl is pivotally connected to one of the hood bracket and the deploy bracket. A bolt is fixed to one of the hood bracket and the deploy bracket. The pawl is moveable between an unlocked position in which the pawl is spaced from the bolt, and a locked position wherein the pawl engages the bolt to fix the hood bracket to the deploy bracket. An actuator is configured to move the locking hook from the first to the second position and to cause the hood bracket to move. At least one locking element limits movement of the hood bracket relative to the body bracket.

    Abstract: A counterbalance mechanism for coupling with a closure panel to assist in opening and closing of the closure panel between a fully closed position and a fully open position of the closure panel, the counterbalance mechanism including: a housing coupled at one end to one of the closure panel and a body of a vehicle by a first connector and at another end by a second connector to the other of the body and the closure panel, the housing containing an extension member and a spring positioned along a longitudinal axis, the spring positioned adjacent to the first connector; the first connector having a body with a connection portion coupled by a connection to an end of the housing positioned at the one end; and a spring retention mechanism for inhibiting extension of the spring out of the one end of the housing, the spring retention mechanism including: a spring retainer positioned between the spring and the end; and a retainer pin positioned between the spring retainer and the end; wherein upon decoupling of the connection portion with the end, the retainer pin inhibits movement of the spring and the spring retainer towards the one end along the longitudinal axis.

    Abstract: A latch travel mechanism for a closure panel of a vehicle, the mechanism comprising: a mounting plate for mounting a latch, the latch for retaining the closure panel in a closed position with respect to a body of the vehicle; a support plate coupled to the mounting plate, the support plate for connecting to a body of the vehicle; one or more linkages connected to the support plate at one end and connected to the mounting plate at another end, the one or more linkages providing said coupled to the mounting plate; a locking member mounted on the support plate and configured for retaining the mounting plate in a home position when coupled to the mounting plate and for decoupling from the mounting plate when operated; an actuation system coupled to the linkages for extending the linkages once the locking member is decoupled from the mounting plate, in order to move the mounting plate relative to the support plate from the home position to an extended position; wherein the latch is also moved from the home position to the extended position when mounted on the mounting plate.

    Abstract: A power actuator for a latch of a motor vehicle closure panel has an electric motor to rotate a lead screw about an axis. A nut is disposed about the lead screw for selective translation along the lead screw. A clutch plate is configured for selective rotation about the axis when engaged with the nut, with a biasing member biasing the nut out of engagement with the clutch plate when the electric motor is de-energized. A carrier member is coupled with the nut to cause the nut to translate into engagement with the clutch plate during rotation of the lead screw, whereupon the nut and carrier member co-rotate with the clutch plate and leadscrew. A driven member is operably coupled with the clutch plate and with the latch via a cable/rod, such that the driven member maintains the latch in a cinched state when the electric motor is energized.

The latch travel mechanism also has a locking member mounted on the support plate and configured for retaining the mounting plate in a home position when engaged with the one or more linkages and for disengaging from the one or more linkages when operated.

The closing device includes a seal formed between the door and the door opening for separating an interior space and an exterior space from each other when the door is in a closed position. The device also includes a door drive for moving the door and a controller coupled to the door drive for controlling movement of the door based on an operating request of a user. The controller includes a condition monitoring unit configured to determine and use at least one variable state variable chosen from the group consisting of the device, the door, the door opening, and the installation environment of the door. The controller is configured to generate a value of at least one closing parameter for closing the door depending on the at least one variable state variable.
