An ink-jet printhead and a manufacturing method thereof include a substrate on which a space portion is formed, a passage plate installed on the substrate in which an ink chamber is formed to store ink, a nozzle plate installed at a top surface of the passage plate in which a nozzle is formed to eject the ink, and a vibration plate disposed between the substrate and the passage plate to generate a pressure for ejecting the ink by changing a volume of the ink chamber. The vibration plate includes a base layer formed at a top surface of the substrate so as to cover at least a part of the space portion, a thin film shape memory alloy layer which contacts the ink contained in the ink chamber and varies according to a temperature variation, a heating element disposed between the base layer and the thin film shape memory alloy to generate heat, and an insulating layer disposed between the heating element and the thin film shape memory alloy layer and transfers the heat generated by the heating element to the thin film shape memory alloy layer. Due to a stable temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of the heating element, a height and a width of a voltage supplied to the heat element can be easily controlled, and thus power of the vibration plate can be precisely controlled, thereby having a predetermined image quality, and the heating element does not contact directly the ink, thereby realizing stability of the ink-jet printhead.

A method and apparatus are provided for measuring a physical property of ink, the apparatus having a function of determining whether the ink is in an appropriate state for printing by monitoring a change of a physical property of the ink. The apparatus includes an ink storage unit, a printhead module, a physical property measuring unit, a storage unit, and a determination unit. The ink storage unit stores ink and the printhead module is connected to the ink storage unit to eject the ink onto a printing medium. The physical property measuring unit measures an actual value of the physical property of the ink (for example, electrical conductivity), and the storage unit stores a nominal value of the physical property of the ink, wherein the nominal value is determined in advance at a predetermined temperature. The determination unit compares the actual value with the nominal valued of the physical property of the ink and calculates an error therebetween to determine whether the error is within a predetermined error range.

A laser induced thermal imaging (LITI) apparatus and a method of making an electronic device using the same are disclosed. The LITI apparatus includes a chamber, a substrate support, a contact frame, and a laser source or oscillator. The LITI apparatus transfers a transferable layer from a film donor device onto a surface of an intermediate electronic device. The LITI apparatus uses a magnetic force to provide a close contact between the transferable layer and the surface of the intermediate device. The magnetic force is generated by magnetic materials formed in two components of the LITI apparatus that are spaced apart interposing transferable layer and the surface of the intermediate device. Magnets or magnetic materials are formed in the two following components of the LITI apparatus: 1) the intermediate device and the film donor device; 2) the intermediate device and the contact frame; 3) the substrate support and the film donor device; or 4) the substrate support and the contact frame.

An image forming device, a controlling method thereof, and a recording material storage medium. The image forming device includes a customer replaceable unit memory (CRUM) provided to a recording material storage medium thereof to store a toner shortage indicator that is set to “Low” to indicate a recording material shortage if a remaining amount of the recording material in the recording material storage medium is not greater than a predetermined threshold, and a controller to determine that the recording material storage medium is refilled with the recording material by a non-authentic method if the remaining quantity of the recording material in the recording material storage medium is greater than the predetermined threshold and if the toner shortage indicator is set to “Low” to indicate the recording material shortage. Accordingly, a user can be encouraged to use an authentic recording material for refills.

A head of an inkjet printer is formed by bonding of a heater substrate and a nozzle plate. In order to bond the heater substrate where a heater thin film and a protecting film are vapor-deposited, and the nozzle plate where a nozzle is formed, an intermediate layer is formed by forming a thin film of glass on the heater substrate by vapor-depositing, and the nozzle plate is installed on the heater substrate. SiO2 is formed at an interface between the nozzle plate and the heater thin film due to heating and application of an electric field, and thus the nozzle plate and the heater substrate are bonded with an electrostatic force of SiO2. The nozzle plate and the heater substrate are bonded by using the intermediate layer made of the thin film of glass instead of a general polymer as the bonding layer, thereby preventing swelling of the polymer and isolation of layers of the head occurring due to ink penetration into interfaces of the layers. Moreover, a bonding process is performed in wafer units to improve mass productivity.

A test handler which is capable of transporting and testing a plurality of USB memory devices is provided. The handler includes a tray loaded with USB memory devices for testing, and a loading/unloading picker which transfers the USB memory devices from the tray to a shuffle for transport to a test socket. The shuffle moves to insert connectors of the USB memory devices into corresponding USB ports of a test socket for testing, and to extract the connectors from the USB ports after testing. The loading/unloading picker is capable of detecting an orientation of the connectors of the USB memory devices to ensure proper insertion into corresponding USB ports in the test socket.
