Abstract:
A user request to select a rival to play against asynchronously for an event is received. In response to the user request, a rival selector user interface is displayed. The rival selector UI includes an identification of one or more users that can be selected and one or more filter criteria that can be selected to change which users are identified in the rival selector UI. The user selects one of the identified users that is used as the rival to play against asynchronously for the event. Game data for the rival for the event is obtained, the game data including both a performance of the rival in the event and data indicating a manner in which an object of the rival is customized by the rival. While the user is playing the event, the object as customized by the rival is played back based on the performance data.
Abstract:
A device and related method for monitoring, detecting and/or controlling pests such as rodents and insects, including termites, are disclosed which comprises: (a) encouraging a first characteristic behavior by the pests that is indicative of the presence of one or more of the pests; (b) discouraging a second characteristic behavior by the pests that at least partially interferes with detection of the first characteristic behavior; and (c) observing, detecting or sensing an occurrence of the first characteristic behavior by one or more of the pests. In one embodiment, the device comprises at least one photonic device; a light conductive assembly in optical association with the at least one photonic device, the assembly comprising first and second spaced apart components having first and second opposed light transmitting surfaces forming between them a spatial region adapted to contain a pest bait member comprised of one or more materials susceptible to consumption or displacement by the pests.
Abstract:
A circuit die to circuit die interface system includes a first circuit die with a first circuit having a first default signal, at least a second circuit die with a second circuit having a second default signal; and a logic circuit disposed on one of the first and second circuit dies and enabled by a default signal from all but one of the circuits to transmit a communication signal from the remaining circuit.
Abstract:
A method for providing a E911 edge network. The method includes assigning public safety answering points (PSAPs) to ports located in a network, where each of the ports is associated with a calling party number (CPN) and a geographic location. The method also includes identifying an incoming emergency call from an IP device. The IP device corresponds to a unique code address and the incoming emergency call includes an incoming CPN. The entry port associated with the IP device is determined based on the unique code address and the incoming CPN. The incoming emergency call is connected to the PSAP corresponding to the entry port. The CPN and the geographic location data are transmitted to the PSAP corresponding to the entry port.

Abstract:
The invention is an electrically conductive device, e.g., a wire or cable, having a crush resistance of at least about 18 pounds per square inch (psi), the device comprising: A. An electrically conductive member comprising at least one electrically conductive substrate, e.g., a wire strand or a pair of twisted wire strands; and B. At least one electric-insulating member substantially surrounding the electrically conductive member, e.g., a polymer coating or layer, the electric-insulating member comprising a polymer blend, the polymer blend comprising: 1. At least about 50 weight percent of a polypropylene, and 2. At least about 10 weight percent of an elastomer. In one embodiment, the blend is characterized as having (i) a hot creep of less than 200% at 150 C, (ii) a dielectric constant at 60 Hz and 90 C of less than about 2.5, (iii) a dissipation factor at 60 Hz and 90 C of less than about 0.005, and (iv) an AC breakdown strength of greater than about 600 v/mil.
Abstract:
This invention provides a container and associated growing process that promotes the growth of at least two different, specialized types of roots and that provides the optimal conditions for these two types of roots. In particular, the container defines an upper section that promotes growth of a fine intricate web of roots that is surrounded by an organic, non-organic or mixed organic and non-organic nutrient-rich medium. This upper section is separated by a permeable medium divider that allows predetermined quantities of water to pass into the upper section (to maintain desired moisture in the nutrient medium (soil), while a lower/bottom section contains a reservoir of hydroponic water that may be relatively free of any nutrients (e.g. “non-nutrient” water). Extending from the upper root ball are a series of water-drinking straw-like roots that transpire water directly from the non-nutrient reservoir and that are continually exposed to massive amounts of atmospheric oxygen. A transport (capillary) device allows water to wick from the reservoir into the upper section to maintain a desired level of moisture in the upper roots, and carrying with it additional dissolved oxygen via evaporation and transpiration. The bottom section can be filled with an acceptable porous, water-storing medium such as gravel or rock wool. The permeable medium divider can include one or more capillary devices that allow transfer of water from the lower reservoir into the upper section. In certain embodiments, the divider can include a series of formations that allow it to sit in an elevated manner on a water-containing structure (such as a sponge-like medium).
Abstract:
A multimedia/personal computer-based system for operating information, communication, and entertainment devices in a mobile vehicle uses a power management strategy which reduces power consumption and boot-up time in a manner which facilitates use of a complex instruction set computing (CISC) processor system. A power management fault strategy detects fault conditions and restores proper operation without user intervention. A low power microprocessor off-board of the main motherboard switches a plurality of regulated voltages to the main motherboard and other devices. The main application microprocessor on the main motherboard sends periodic status messages to the low power microprocessor. Various strategies are provided for limiting attempts to correct a fault, monitor the state of the application microprocessor, and transition between states.
Abstract:
A method of treatment of a condition selected from the group comprising conjunctivitis, keratitis, ‘allergic eyes’, adenovirus infections, corneal homograft rejection, anterior uveitis, nasal polyps, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic manifestations of the nasopharynx, reversible obstructive airways disease, Crohn's disease, distal colitis and proctitis, which method comprises administration to a patient suffering from such a condition of a therapeutically effective amount of an aqueous solution containing, as active ingredient, 9-ethyl-6,9-dihydro-4,6-dioxo-10-propyl-4H-pyrano(3,2-g)quinoline-2,8-dicarboxylic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Also described are novel pharmaceutical compositions suitable for use in such methods of treatment.
Abstract:
A non-pressurized pharmaceutical inhalation composition includes a therapeutically effective amount of a particulate inhalation medicament. The medicament has a mass median diameter in the range 0.01 to 15 .mu.m. A particulate polysaccharide entrapped flavoring agent is included in the composition and has a mass median diameter in the range of 10 to 200 .mu.m. The composition can be used to practice a method for treatment of reversible obstructive airway disease which includes administering the pharmaceutical composition to a patient.
