Abstract:
A method for maintaining continuity of a network signal path extending along a backplane includes providing a bypass signal circuit compatible with the network signal path and being electrically connected in series with the first and second portions of the network signal path. The bypass signal circuit includes a normally open circuit portion and an electrical contact movable with respect to the bypass signal circuit. An electrical contact is mechanically moved out of contact with the bypass signal circuit and moved mechanically into contact with the bypass signal circuit in response to the function module being detached from or attached to the function module electrical connector and not in response to an electrical control signal.
Abstract:
A feed-through terminal block module includes first and second electrical terminals, a first current bar, and a second current bar, the terminals and current bars in a terminal housing. The first current bar permanently electrically connects the first and second terminals. The first current bar includes a first contact portion of the module. The second current bar includes a second contact portion of the module and a third contact portion of the module. A removable contact plug is inserted into the housing to selectively electrically connect the first and second contact portions. Removable bridge pins or a bridging current bar electrically connects the third contact portions of adjacent modules when modules are placed side-by-side to form a terminal block.
Abstract:
A method for providing galvanic isolation between an input or trunk interface (30) and multiple outputs or spur interfaces (38) for connecting field devices (14) to a trunk (20) of a two-wire (44a, 44b) process control network (10) includes connecting multiple sets of multiple spur interfaces to respective isolating elements (34). Each isolating element (34) connects a respective set of outputs or spur interfaces (38) to the trunk interface (30) and galvanically isolates (40, 42) the respective set of spur interfaces (38) from the trunk interface (30). Field devices (14) attached to different sets of spur interfaces are also galvanically isolated from one another.
Abstract:
A heat dissipating power electrical connector assembly has a contact housing, a metal contact in the housing, a heat dissipating member with a surface for heating adjacent air and a non-metal heat transmitting member for flowing heat from the contact to the heat dissipating member.
Abstract:
A housing slice for forming a modular housing for mounting an electrical component on a grounding rail carries a grounding member for grounding the electrical component to the grounding rail. The grounding member extends outside of the housing slice but does not extend beyond the sides of the housing slice to permit side-by-side stacking of the housing slice carrying the grounding member with other housing slices with or without grounding members.
Abstract:
An assembly for attaching and detaching an electronics module from a base includes a feedback assembly that provides an operator with tactile feedback on the relative positioning of the module with the base during attachment or detachment of the module to or from the base. The feedback assembly includes cams on the electronics module and a follower attached to an end of a spring arm on the base. The spring arm forms a portion of a wall that guides movement of the module along the base during attachment or detachment of the module.
Abstract:
A fanless industrial computer enclosure dissipates heat generated by the hottest components on heat sinks dedicated to respective heat zones within the enclosure. Heat generated by the component that operates at the highest temperature in each heat zone is conducted to a heat sink on the exterior of the enclosure. Using a heat sink dedicated to each heat zone, heat generated by components such as an industrial computer, storage devices, power supply, or other electrical components, is dissipated on the outer surface of the enclosure to the surrounding ambient environment. Providing a low resistance heat conductive path from the hottest components to respective heat sinks to dissipate heat outside the enclosure from each heat zone creates an environment within the enclosure where disk drives do not exceed the specified upper operating temperature rating without regard to the operating temperature of other electrical components in the enclosure.
Abstract:
A universal I/O interposer system for processing an I/O signal transmitted between an I/O field device and a controller, the system includes a base connected between the field device and the controller and a number of connector halves attached to the base. An interposer circuit carrier includes a corresponding connector half and includes a signal processing circuit for processing an I/O signal being transmitted between an I/O field device and a controller. An interposer circuit carrier can be changed without disconnecting the base from the field device or controller.
Abstract:
A shelf lighting connector assembly provides an electrical connection between a power strip on a wall and a light mounted on the underside of a shelf mounted on the wall.
Abstract:
An electrical terminal or spring terminal for forming an electrical connection between a wire conductor and a current bar includes a spring and a spring retainer, the spring retainer not integral with the spring and not integral with the current bar. Engageable abutment surfaces on the spring retainer and the current bar cooperate to transfer spring force to the current bar.
