Abstract:
A surgical clip applier and methods for applying surgical clips to a vessel, duct, shunt, etc., during a surgical procedure are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a surgical clip applier is provided having a housing with a trigger movably coupled thereto and a shaft extending therefrom with opposed jaws formed on a distal end thereof. The trigger is adapted to advance a clip to position the clip between the jaws, and to move the jaws from an open position to a closed position to crimp the clip positioned therebetween. The surgical clip applier can include a variety of features to facilitate use of the device, including features to align a clip with the jaws, features to prevent unintentional migration of a clip, and features to prevent clip fallout during formation.

Abstract:
The invention is directed to a seal for aircraft boarding stairs or for an aircraft boarding bridge, said seal comprising a bellows (5) that spans a gangway bottom plate (10), said bellows comprising a flexible frame (3) at its one open end and having at its other end a gantry frame (2) intended to be fastened to the aircraft boarding stairs or to the aircraft boarding bridge, the flexible frame (3) resting against the outer skin of the aircraft when the bellows is deployed and an actuation device for actuating the bellows being provided for extending and retracting the bellows, said actuation device comprising a rotatable shaft equipped with a drive, said rotatable shaft (40) permitting to wind and unwind a traction means connected to the flexible frame, the actuation device (20) comprising two articulated arms (30) arranged in a spaced-apart relationship, each articulated arm (30) comprising an upper arm member (31) and a lower arm member (35) coupled to said upper arm member by a hinge, said upper arm member (31) of the articulated arm (30) being hinged to the gantry frame (2) in the roof region of the bellows (5) and the lower arm member (35) being hinged to the flexible frame (3), extension means (51, 55) being provided for extending the bellows (5).
Abstract:
A motor vehicle roof with a wind deflector element (20) which can be raised with its rear edge area (16) and a covering arrangement which is located behind the wind deflector element for selective joint closing and at least partial clearance of a roof opening, the wind deflector element having a spoiler body (10) for preventing unwanted air flow noise when the covering arrangement is open. The spoiler body (10) is foamed onto the wind deflector element (20) via a peripheral foaming production process.
Abstract:
A content transmission selection system is disclosed. The content transmission selection system receives requests from viewers for specific video content items. Using characteristics of the designated content item, the content transmission selection system determines whether to transmit the content item over a broadcast network or a broadband network.
Abstract:
A method for advertising in conjunction with a file download including: selecting a content identifier in response to a broadcast, the content identifier associated with the broadcast; initiating a request for a download via the content identifier, the content identifier being mapped to the activity wherein initiating said request includes a digital rights management function; and downloading the file associated with the content identifier, wherein said file includes an embedded advertisement.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for enabling a sender of a voicemail message to delete that message before it is heard by the intended recipient and to be notified when a pending message is heard by the intended recipient. A voicemail system associated with a recipient receives and stores a voicemail message and, in response thereto, transmits a status message to a voicemail system associated with the sender. Upon user request, a server computer queries the voicemail system associated with the sender for status of a voicemail message, and if still pending, transmits a deletion request to the voicemail system associated with the sender. The deletion request is then sent from the voicemail system associated with the sender to the voicemail system associated with the recipient, which then deletes the message. When the status of a voicemail message changes from pending to heard, a status change message is received by a server computer, which then determines notification preferences and addresses and, subsequently, transmits a notification message to the sender of the voicemail message.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a telecommunications system initiating telephone connections between, for example, a consumer and a service provider based on the criteria provided by the consumer and the services available from the service provider. The system is suitable for consumers requiring direct communication with a staff member of a service provider capable of meeting the consumer's service requirements. The system compiles a prioritized list of service providers matching the consumer's criteria. Starting with the first service provider on the list, the system rings the service provider and determines whether or not a staff member answers the call. If the line is busy or the call is not answered by a staff member, the system moves on to the next service provider on the list until a service provider having a staff member is located. Once such a service provider is located, the system rings the consumer and connects the two parties. If the system cannot locate such a service provider, the consumer is given an opportunity to repeat or modify the search.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for routing a call based on voice activated dialing (VAD). A VAD device module may respond to a VAD instruction, or to a call received with a VAD instruction with a corresponding call destination number obtained from a personal VAD directory. If the personal VAD directory fails to include the call destination number, the VAD device module may route the call or initiate a call through a gateway to a VAD network module. The VAD network module may obtain call destination information from the VAD instruction, and may use the call destination information obtain the call destination number. The VAD network module may obtain additional information from the call or other source, and use the additional information to obtain the call destination number. The call then is routed to the call destination number. The call destination number may be added to the personal VAD directory.
Abstract:
A method and system for viewing an attachment to an electronic communication transmitted in an electronic messaging system is disclosed in which the system receives a communication; examines the content of the communication; sends an attachment contained in the communication to an alternate viewing site; and presents the content of the attachment contained in the communication at the alternate viewing site in a universally-viewable format. An alternative embodiment further includes prompting the receiver of the communication for verification of a previously assigned personal identification number.
