    摘要: An electrical energy meter is provided with snap fit interlocking parts that eliminate the need for screws or fasteners. The current sensor, located within the meter, has a plurality of current conductors and a notched blade attached to each current conductor that functions as an interlocking component to the meter base without the need for additional fasteners. A circuit board used by the meter is attached to a plurality of integral posts projecting from the base and the periphery of the circuit board has a pair of spaced notches for connection to the ends of a radial communications antenna without the requirement for additional hardware.

    摘要: A universal electronic energy meter for measuring electrical energy usage of a circuit having a 4-wire service is disclosed. The universal meter is operable with both 4-wire wye and 4-wire delta services without modification to the meter's hardware or software. The universal meter is further operable over a wide range of standard service voltages that are supplied in connection with 4-wire services. The universal meter includes a voltage divider network that senses the line voltages from the circuit and scales the line voltages to a voltage suitable for processing by the meter. The scaled voltage has a maximum peak-to-peak voltage irrespective of the particular standard service supplying the electrical energy to the circuit, and therefore, the voltage divider network is not reconfigured to accommodate a wide range of service voltages. The voltage divider network includes resistive dividers that scale the line voltage to provide a linear voltage with minimal phase shift. The universal meter also includes a power supply that is also operable over a wide range of service voltages. The power supply supplies a regulated fixed supply voltage used by the meter for processing functions carried out by the meter independent of the type of 4-wire service supplying the electrical energy to the circuit.

    摘要: A surge protector is provided for a multi-phase watthour meter. The surge protector allows all three phases to be protected using a single resistive block and ground strap. Separate first electrodes are connected to each phase of the circuit and each electrode is disposed adjacent one end of a different hole formed in the meter base. A second electrode is disposed at the opposite end of the holes and forms a tip at each hole, thereby forming separate spark gaps with each of the first electrodes. A resistive block mounted on the outboard side of the meter base is in surface contact with the second electrode and a single ground strap is in contact with the resistive block so as to ground the meter to its socket when arcing occurs in the spark gaps.

    摘要: A mutual inductance differential current transducer employs a toroidal coil mounted coaxially and generally centrally of the length of an alternating current conductor wiht a conductive sheet therebetween surrounding the conductor and of substantially the same length and in insulated relationship from the conductor. The axial length of the coil is less than approximately one-third the length of the conductor, and the toroidal cross-section has a longer leg parallel to the axis of the conductor and a cross-sectional area eliminating the need for external capacitive and magnetic shielding. The coil is wound with an integer number of layers of the same number of turns per layer, the total number of turns being selected to produce a predetermined range of voltage levels of the analog voltage signal output of the coil, produced in response to and representative of the differential current flow through the conductor. The coil is wound utilizing only conventional toroidal coil winding controls with resultant winding defects in each layer producing corresponding abberations in the analog voltage signal output, the abberations of the respective such contributions for the corresponding, plural integer number of layers being substantially self-cancelling and thereby maintaining the substantially linear responsive character of the analog voltage signal output of the coil.
