The method also includes iteratively repeating the following steps until a single-hop data rate is approximately equal to a multi-hop data rate: allocating a first number of slots to the multi-hop access links; dividing the first number of slots among the multi-hop access links; allocating a second number of slots to the relay links; allocating a third number of slots to the single-hop access links; dividing the third number of slots among the single-hop access links; and comparing the single-hop data rate to the multi-hop data rate. The method also includes, upon the single-hop data rate being approximately equal to the multi-hop data rate, provisioning the first number of slots to each of the multi-hop access links, the second number of slots to each of the relay links, and the third number of slots to each of the single-hop access links.

摘要: Interference levels occurring at one or more stations in a wireless network, where each of said one or more stations is a base station or a relay station. The measured interference levels are mapped by building a first matrix including noise plus interference occurring at each of the one or more stations, respectively, and scheduled transmissions at predetermined times by each relay station respectively are mapped by building a second matrix. The first matrix and the second matrix are multiplied in order to determine the noise plus interference impact upon each base station by each relay station so that a network schedule can be generated in order to increase bandwidth efficiency in the network.

摘要: Techniques are described for intelligently allocating bandwidth in a wireless mesh network. The wireless mesh network includes a nodes and links interconnecting the nodes. In order to increase capacity and avoid congestion in the network, a network administrator may regulate network traffic by adjusting various parameters that control the operation of network nodes. The network administrator may identify topology information, which indicates a configuration of the nodes and links, and a traffic matrix, which indicates a relative traffic demand weighting for each source node-destination node pair. From this information, the network administrator may calculate a bandwidth assignment for each link. Network administrator may use the bandwidth assignments to calculate a parameter for each node. That parameter may affect the amount of bandwidth used by a node. These parameters may be transmitted to their respective nodes.

In addition, the method includes receiving, at the base station, a request for a second communication session after the first communication session has ended. Further, the method includes determining, at the base station, that the request for the second communication session was sent by the preferred endpoint. The method also includes retrieving, at the base station, the stored at least one parameter in response to determining that the preferred endpoint sent the request for the second communication session. Moreover, the method includes utilizing, at the base station, the retrieved at least one parameter to establish the second communication session with the preferred endpoint.
