Abstract:
Techniques for live location sharing are described. A first mobile device and a second mobile device can communicate with one another using an IM program. The first mobile device can receive a user input to share a location of the first mobile device in the IM program. Sharing the location can include causing the second mobile device to display a location of the first mobile device in an IM program user interface on the second mobile device. Duration of sharing the location can be user-configurable. The second mobile device may or may not share a location of the second device for display in the IM program executing on the first mobile device.

Abstract:
An electronic device displays a messaging user interface of a messaging application on the display, the messaging user interface including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user, a message-input area, and an icon for an interactive application that is displayed within the conversation transcript. While displaying the messaging user interface, the device detects an input that activates the icon for the interactive application; in response to detecting the input that activates the icon for the interactive application, the device displays a user interface for the interactive application in a first state. While displaying the user interface for the interactive application, the device detects a first user input within the user interface for the interactive application; and, in response to detecting the first user input within the user interface for the interactive application: the device changes display of the user interface for the interactive application from the first state to a second state, and sends information, to the one or more electronic devices that correspond to the at least one other user included in the messaging session, indicating that the first user input was made in the user interface for the interactive application, wherein the one or more electronic devices display an indicia of the first user input.
Abstract:
A distribution system for distributing stickers that are available in a set of different resolutions for different target devices is described. The distribution system (e.g. a messaging sticker store) can create a bundle of stickers for each screen resolution in the set of target devices.
Abstract:
An electronic device displays a messaging user interface on the display, the messaging user interface including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and at least one other user. The device receives a first message within the messaging session from an electronic device that corresponds to another user included in the messaging session; in response to receiving the first message, the device displays the first message in a first message region in the conversation transcript on the display. The device detects a first input by a first contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of the first message region in the conversation transcript; in response to detecting the first input, the device displays an acknowledgement selection affordance at a location in the messaging interface that corresponds to the first message region. The acknowledgement selection affordance displays a plurality of acknowledgement options. The device detects a second input by a second contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a location of a first acknowledgement option in the acknowledgement selection affordance; and, in response to detecting the second input, the device applies the first acknowledgement option to the first message region.
Abstract:
A messaging system in one embodiment includes a messaging app and one or more extension apps configured to create content that is displayed in a view hosted by the messaging app. The messaging app can launch the one or more extension apps, and content can be communicated between each extension app and the messaging app through an interprocess communication.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for detecting and analyzing spikes in network jitter and the estimation of a jitter buffer target size is disclosed. Detected spikes may be classified as jump spikes or slope spikes, and a clipped size of detected spikes may be used in the estimation of the jitter buffer target. Network characteristics and conditions may also be used in the estimation of the jitter buffer target size. Samples may be modified during playback adaptation to improve audio quality and maintain low delay of a receive chain.
Abstract:
A system and method are described for establishing two-way communication between proxy devices that have a certain set of hardware and/or capabilities allowing the proxy devices to send and receive SMS/MMS messages using cellular networks on behalf of proxied devices that lack the hardware and/or capabilities. The proxy device can receive a message from a service provider. The message may be associated with information, and the proxy device can determine a recipient of the message based at least in part on the information. The proxy device can determine whether delivery of the message to the recipient is restricted and, if not, transmit the message the proxied device and/or the recipient.
Abstract:
A unified message delivery between multiple devices is disclosed. Sending messages through a local communications link, such as but not limited to at least one of a Bluetooth connection and a peer-to-peer WiFi connection, can lead to faster transmission times and reduced server load. When the local communications link is unavailable or not suitable, the messages can be sent through a network and a push server. In some examples, messages can be sent through both the local communications link and through the network and the push server. Duplicates of a received message can be avoided by utilizing indicators. In some examples, one or more devices can include queue(s) to ensure ordered delivery of a plurality of messages when a local communications link and network connection become unavailable.
Abstract:
A method for refreshing blocked media packets for a streaming media session over a wireless network in a stall condition is disclosed. The method can include a wireless communication device maintaining a buffer at an application layer. The buffer can contain at least a portion of media packets provided to a baseband layer by the application layer for transmission. Media packets provided to the baseband layer can be queued in a baseband queue prior to transmission. The method can further include the wireless communication device generating at least one new media packet for the streaming media session during the stall condition; flushing at least a portion of the media packets queued in the baseband queue; and replenishing the baseband queue by providing the baseband layer with at least a portion of the media packets contained in the buffer and at least one new media packet.
