Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for capacity sharing between wireless systems. One wireless telecommunications system includes a plurality of base stations and a Mobile Central Office (MCO) communicatively coupled to each of the base stations. Each base station is operable to handle a session from a wireless device and to handoff the session to another of the base stations when the wireless device moves into a range of the other wireless base station. The MCO is operable to detect capacity on a first of the base stations, to request capacity from another wireless system in response to detecting the capacity on the first base station, to acquire at least a portion of the requested capacity from the other wireless system, and to direct the wireless device to communicate via the capacity acquired from the other wireless system.

Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for reducing latency in wireless service through a communication link comprising a Modem Termination System (MTS) and a modem. The communication link is coupled with a virtualized wireless link. In one embodiment, a method includes transferring a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) through the communication link to a control portion of the virtualized wireless link, generating a wireless grant to allow the data of the UE through virtualized wireless link, and generating a backhaul grant for the UE to transfer data through the communication link based on the wireless grant information.

Abstract: A wireless communications system includes a feedback processing unit for analyzing captured bandwidth data from a remote radio head, and a problem-type processor in operable communication with the feedback processing unit. Abstract: A method for reducing latency during handover of user equipment (UE) between wireless base stations includes (a) receiving, at a network hub in an edge communication network, a first wireless signaling message from a source wireless base station, (b) determining, from the first wireless signaling message at the network hub, occurrence of a handover of UE from the source wireless base station to a target wireless base station, (c) in response to determining occurrence of the handover, translating, at the network hub, an address of first data packets intended for the UE from an address of the source wireless base station to an address of the target wireless base station, and (d) forwarding the first data packets from the network hub to the target wireless base station.

Abstract: Wireless access network selection is contemplated. The selection process may include arbitrating use of a plurality of wireless networks according to their performance capabilities. The performance capabilities or parameters may be identified from information broadcasted from the wireless networks. Mobile devices capable of wirelessly connecting to the networks may identify the performance capabilities prior to connecting to the wireless networks, thereby enabling the mobile devices to more efficiently identify suitable networks.
