    摘要: A fully integrated electro-optic page-scanner comprises an optically transparent waveguide made from an electro-optic polymer, and an electrode structure including a linear array of electrically-addressable, spaced, parallel electrodes for selectively altering the refractive index across pixel-sized portions of the polymeric waveguide. According to the invention, the addressable electrodes are disposed on a photoconductive substrate which facilitates poling of the polymer waveguide to rander it electro-optic in nature. During the poling process, the photoconductive substrate is made electrically conductive by flood illumination, while a uniform electric field is established between the substrate and a transparent electrode which overlies the waveguide layer, opposite the addressable electrodes. Preferably, the photoconductive substrate comprises undoped silicon which enables certain electrode-addressing circuitry to be integrated within the scanner structure.

    摘要: Photoconductive compositions comprising an insulating polymeric matrix and a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is --H or --CN;R', r", r'" and R.sup.iv are independently selected from an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from about 1 - 10 carbon atoms; phenyl; or substituted phenyl wherein said substituents are capable of releasing electrons to relatively electron deficient centers within the compound; amino; diarylamino; dialkylamino or alkoxy; n can range from 0 up to the potential number of positions of substitution on the aromatic ring system. These compositions have good spectral response in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum and are suitable for use in electrostatographic imaging members and methods.

    摘要: Ambipolar photoconductive composition comprising the product of the in situ polymerization of at least one cyclic compound of the formula: ##EQU1## wherein Ar is a polyaromatic nucleus selected from the group consisting of diradicals of naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene and carbazole;X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, NO.sub.2, NH.sub.2 ; lower alkyl, phenyl, phenoxy, lower alkoxy, carboxy, hydroxyl, lower alkyl esters and aryl esters;m and n can range from 0 to the total number of replaceable hydrogens on the polyaromatic nucleus;In a polymeric host resin.By the appropriate in situ polymerization of the above compound in the host polymer, it is possible to produce an interpretating photoconductive netword throughout the host polymer. The resulting photoconductive materials can be incorporated into an imaging member in an electrostatographic imaging system and function in either a positive or negative charging mode.
