In some aspects, the bioactive crystalline phase is apatite, and the composition is a dentifrice or skin care composition. Methods comprising making the composition, making the bioactive glass, and applying the composition to a tooth or the skin. In some aspects, applying the composition to a tooth remineralizes enamel of the tooth, treats caries of the tooth, and/or treats dentin hypersensitivity of the tooth, and applying the composition to skin treats or reduces the appearance of one or more skin defects, such as wrinkles and blemishes.
