Abstract:
Household lubricant compositions containing medium chain triglycerides are non-toxic and biodegradable. The lubricant compositions are made using vegetable oil components and stabilized using alcohol, an antioxidant, and a metal chelator. The lubricant compositions offer safe and environmentally friendly alternatives to petroleum-based lubricants, yet have similar lubricity and are more stable than naturally sourced vegetable oils. The compositions also can be used to clean and coat surfaces, including food preparation surfaces, and to prevent corrosion. Still further uses include sterilization and sanitation of surfaces and as a skin conditioner and lubricant.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a grease composition or a lubricating oil composition which is capable of effectively preventing hydrogen brittleness-caused peeling from occurring on a rolling surface of a rolling bearing, is excellent in durability in a high temperature and speed operation, and can be used for a long time. A grease-packed bearing (1) has an inner ring (2), an outer ring (3), and a plurality of rolling elements (4). A sealing member (6) for sealing a grease composition (7) is provided at openings (8a) and (8b) disposed at both axial ends of the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3). The grease composition (7) includes a base grease composed of a base oil and a thickener and an additive added to the base grease. The additive contains at least one compound selected from among plant-derived polyphenolic compounds and compounds formed by decomposition thereof. The above-described compounds include tannin, gallic acid, ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, curcumin, quercetin, and quinic acid.
Abstract:
The invention provides a composition comprising a mixture of tridecanols wherein at least about 60 wt % of the mixture is linear tridecanol and at least about 10 wt % of the mixture is branched tridecanols wherein the branched tridecanols have branching on the second carbon atom. The mixture of tridecanols may be converted to one or more derivatives, and these derivatives may be used in laundry detergents, cleaning products or as an agricultural adjuvant, an emulsifying agent, a lubricant additive, a pour point depressant, or a personal care ingredient.
Abstract:
A composition including an effective amount of trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene component combined with an effective amount of an alcohol selected from the group of methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, tert-butanol, isobutanol, 2-ethyl hexanol and any combination thereof, where the composition has azeotropic properties.
Abstract:
A fully formulated lubricating oil, lubricated surface, and lubricant additive concentrates for lubricants providing reduced sludge formation. The fully formulated lubricating oil composition has therein at least one succinimide dispersant derived from a polyalkylene compound having from about 50 to about 85% vinylidene double bonds in the compound, a metal containing detergent, at least one wear reducing agent, at least one antioxidant, and a hydrocarbon soluble titanium compound as a friction modifier. The lubricating oil composition is also substantially free of molybdenum compounds.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of masking mineral oil odor and the fragrancing of mineral oils. In this connection, the invention relates to a selection of particularly suitable odoriferous substances for masking a mineral oil odor and for fragrancing mineral oils. The invention furthermore relates to additives and to corresponding fragranced mineral oils themselves, in particular motor fuels and heating or lubricant oils.
Abstract:
Low-foam emulsifier system consisting of: (a) ethoxylates/propoxylates of fatty alcohols having 8 to 18 carbon atoms in the alcohol with 2 to 6 ethylene oxide units and 4 to 8 propylene oxide units; and (b) fatty alcohols or the distillation residues thereof and/or fatty alcohol propoxylates having 12 to 24 carbon atoms in the alcohol and 0 to 3 propylene oxide units; in a ratio, by weight, of (a): (b) of 1:0.3 to 0.3:1. A corrosion protection and emulsifier system additionally containing corrosion-inhibiting carboxylic acids together with a water-miscible emulsion concentrate obtainable therefrom by the addition of oil are also disclosed. Water-mixed emulsions are obtainable from this concentrate, which may be used as a cleaning, corrosion protection or cooling lubricant emulsion in metals processing.
Abstract:
Lubricating solutions are used on conveying systems in the beverage industry during the filling of containers with beverages. Lubricating compositions of the present invention, especially those designed for use in beverage conveying systems for contained beverages, comprise at least the following components:a) an alkyl alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated, preferably ethoxylated) phosphate ester,b) aryl (e.g., aromatic, such as phenol) alkoxylated (e.g., ethoxylated or propoxylated) phosphate ester,c) an aromatic or linear quaternary ammonium antimicrobial agent, andd) a liquid carrier, such as water. These lubricating solutions are capable of providing good lubricity and antimicrobial activity over a prolonged time.
