摘要: An imaging device for producing multicolor images from image data containing data representing an image of a first color and an image of a second color to be registered relative to the image of the first color onto a substrate by transferring toner of the first and second colors to the substrate is provided. The imaging device includes a first imager, a second imager, a photoreceptor belt, a plurality of rollers mounted to a frame of the imaging device, an angular position sensor, an image data source and a controller. The plurality of rollers define a process path along which the photoreceptor belt is driven past the first and second imagers in a process direction. The plurality of rollers includes a drive roller that exhibits an eccentricity for which a formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity is known. The angular position sensor detects the phase angle of the drive roller. The image data source generates image data that includes a line to be printed in the first color and in the second color. The controller is coupled to receive signals from the angular position sensor, ROS imager and image data source and is configured to drive the second imager to generate an optical output. The controller includes memory and a processor. The memory stores the formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity. The processor calculates an appropriate time delay for starting the generation of the optical output of the second imager for printing the line to be printed in the first color and in the second color based on the time of the starting of the optical output by the ROS imager to print to print that line, the signal received from the angular position sensor, and the formula relating angular position as a function of the phase angle of the drive roller to eccentricity.

摘要: A system and method preprocesses data, in a computer system where forecasting of computing resources is performed based on past and present observations of measurements related to the resources. The preprocessing includes decomposing the past and present observations into a smooth time sequence, a jump time sequence, a noise time sequence and a spike time sequence. The method (and system) includes detecting the spikes in a signal representing the measurements, detecting the jumps in the signal, removing spikes and jumps from the signal, and removing the noise from the signal, to obtain a smooth version of the signal.

摘要: Side airbag system including an airbag arranged to deploy in the event of an impact into a side of the vehicle, a side impact crash sensor arranged to sense an impact into a side of the vehicle, and an inflator for inflating the airbag. The crash sensor is an electrical sensor which includes a movable sensing mass which moves when the side of the vehicle is impacted and a signal generating mechanism for generating a time-varying signal representative of movement of the sensing mass, analyzing the signal representative of the movement of the sensing mass and generating a deployment signal based thereon. The inflator is coupled to the crash sensor and receives the deployment signal therefrom and inflates the airbag upon receipt of the deployment signal.

摘要: A method and structure stores and/or transmits and receives data in compressed form. Retrieval latencies are reduced by selectively transmitting a portion of the data in uncompressed form. When the apparatus is part of a computer architecture supporting main memory compression, a selected L2 cache line belonging to the unit of main memory compression is kept uncompressed. To minimize decompression latency, the uncompressed L2 cache line is stored with the compressed-memory directory. Alternatively, the uncompressed L2 cache line is stored in the compressed memory together with the rest of the memory compression unit it belongs to.

摘要: Linear optimization queries, which usually arise in various decision support and resource planning applications, are queries that retrieve top N data records (where N is an integer greater than zero) which satisfy a specific optimization criterion. The optimization criterion is to either maximize or minimize a linear equation. The coefficients of the linear equation are given at query time. Methods and apparatus are disclosed for constructing, maintaining and utilizing a multidimensional indexing structure of database records to improve the execution speed of linear optimization queries. Database records with numerical attributes are organized into a number of layers and each layer represents a geometric structure called convex hull. Such linear optimization queries are processed by searching from the outer-most layer of this multi-layer indexing structure inwards. At least one record per layer will satisfy the query criterion and the number of layers needed to be searched depends on the spatial distribution of records, the query-issued linear coefficients, and N, the number of records to be returned. When N is small compared to the total size of the database, answering the query typically requires searching only a small fraction of all relevant records, resulting in a tremendous speedup as compared to linearly scanning the entire dataset.

摘要: An apparatus and method for approximating the data stored in a databases by generating multiple projections and representations from the database such that the OLAP queries for the original database (such as aggregation and histogram operations) may be applied to the approximated version of the database, which can be much smaller than the original databases. Other aspects optimize a mapping, via a mapping (or dimension) table, of non-numeric or numeric attributes to other numeric attributes such that the error incurred on applying queries to the approximated version of the database is minimized. Still further aspects define boundaries of approximations so that the boundaries are preserved when approximated versions of the databases are generated.

摘要: An apparatus for steering a moving web, particularly in an electrophotographic printing machine of the type having an endless photoreceptor belt supported by a plurality of rolls and arranged to move in a predetermined path through a plurality of processing stations disposed therealong the web being of the type which is supported by a plurality of rolls. A web steering roll for supporting the web being adapted for rotational movement about a first axis and tilting movement about a second axis transverse to the first axis is used. A compact internal tilting mechanism utilizing a motor inside of the roll connected at one end to a first pin extending outwardly from one end of said steering roll, the first pin being positioned eccentrically of the rotary axis, and a second pin extending outwardly at the other end of the roll also positioned eccentrically of the rotary axis and connected to the motor through a connecting mechanism so that when said motor is actuated the second pin rotates in a direction opposed to that of the first pin. The pins are supported in substantially parallel guides so that the movement of the roll is limited to one plane. A belt edge sensor can be utilized to track the position of the belt and feed that information to the machine controller which then actuates the steering motor to tilt the roll to the extent and for as long as is necessary to maintain the proper belt tracking pattern on the roll.
