摘要: A defibrillator having a pair of electrodes for delivering an artifact-compensated defibrillation shock and a method thereof is provided. The defibrillator can be deployed rapidly while administering a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the patient. Upon detection of an end of the CPR operation, a correlation signal indicative of signal corruption is detected and analyzed rapidly to determine an appropriate energy level discharged across the pair of electrodes. Thereafter, a notification signal is sent to the user of the defibrillator prior to delivering the defibrillation shock to the patient. The artifact-compensated defibrillation shock is delivered if for a predetermined period of time no movements is detected.

摘要: A method and device for transmitting information over a first medium include allocating for signal transmission, each of a plurality of frequency sub-bands of an ultra-wide band spectrum and sending over the first medium an ultra-wide band transmission including the information. The ultra-wide band transmission is performed by sending a signal over each of the plurality of frequency sub-bands. Each signal may be encoded, modulated and/or multiplexed. The information which is transmitted may be obtained from a second signal transmission received over a second medium.

摘要: A radiometer that incorporates multiple UV bandwidth sensors, defined in nanometers, and includes connectors for inserting a cable that is used to connect to another sensor, or to a data collection module (DCM) in a multidrop, or daisy-chain arrangement. Each sensor can be positioned at any point on a three-dimensional work piece, and will receive UV energy at the aperture having an optical component. The collected energy is directed to a detector in the sensor. A processor in the body of the sensor then computes the amount of UV radiation based on signals from the detector. This information is transferred to and stored in a data collection module to which the sensor string is connected. Data stored in the DCM can then be transferred to a computer for display purposes. The sensors and DCM can be tethered to the computer for real-time measurement readings when adjusting the UV lamps.

摘要: A method and apparatus for making carbon/carbon composite disks for braking applications that employs a continuous feeding of fiber strands into a mold. The fibers are then compressed to form a mat or preform. The fibers are then needled such that the fibers within the mat interlock and extend in various directions. The mat or preform is then subjected to densification processing. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the densification process and/or to speed up the processing time, a filler is added to the preform during the manufacturing process. The fillers are added by way of a dry powder or as a liquid slurry. The filler may be aluminum oxide, boron carbide, silicon carbide, pitch, or a variety of carbonic or noncarbonic performance enhancers.

摘要: A hybrid body mount assembly is provided to mount automotive parts to a vehicle chassis. The body mount assembly is fabricated in a two-piece configuration with disparate elastomeric materials used for the upper and lower members. The hybrid material configuration both enhances noise transmission reduction and minimizes vehicle vibration. The upper body mount member is formed from micro cellular urethane to minimize noise transmission through the body mount assembly, while the lower mount member is fabricated from butyl rubber to minimize the transmission of vehicle vibrations. The hybrid material assembly achieves a 50% increase in damping without detrimentally affecting the transmission of noise.

摘要: An automated external defibrillator (AED) is described which spends an increased proportion of a rescue in a CPR mode. This is accomplished by use of a single shock protocol which causes the AED to spend less time in shock analysis and delivery activities as compared with the typical multiple shock protocol. An AED of the present invention preferably is configured at the factory with a single shock protocol as the default rescue protocol. The rescue protocol can be modified or changed easily without the need to remove the battery or use specialized hardware or software. Preferably the shock waveform of the single shock is a biphasic waveform delivering at least 175 Joules of energy and more preferably at least 200 Joules of energy.
