A system and method for synchronizing a receiver of a bit stream to the bit stream include a correlator to remove the PN code modulation and to generate a stream of time sequence values (samples) from the received bits. A plurality of accumulators are included, each accumulator corresponding to an offset in a series of time intervals starting with a first time period. The accumulators add a number of values equal to a number of samples in a bit period. The values added by each accumulator is a set of values starting with the value at the offset corresponding to the accumulator. A plurality of magnitude calculators receives a sum from the corresponding accumulator and calculates a magnitude. A plurality of non-coherent summers are then used to add the magnitudes for each offset in each bit period for all of the received bits. The total sum in each non-coherent summer is then analyzed to find the highest value, such that the offset corresponding to the non-coherent summer with the highest value represents the location of the bit transition in the bit period.

Apparatus and methods for detecting data bit edge in a meander encoded information bit from a satellite positioning system (SPS) such as GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) are discussed. A method comprises receiving meander encoded data samples from a meander encoded information bit. The method includes computing a set of accumulated values for a corresponding set of hypotheses, each of the hypotheses corresponding to a hypothesized bit edge phase. The process of computing an accumulated value of the set of accumulated values includes providing a toggled subset of the meander encoded data samples, and integrating the toggled subset of the meander encoded data samples with an un-toggled subset of the meander encoded data samples to produce the accumulated value. The method also includes selecting a best hypothesis from the set of hypotheses corresponding to a maximum value of the set of accumulated values, wherein the best hypothesis represents the data bit edge.

A rake receiver tracks a component of a multipath information signal transmitted over a communication network. The rake receiver aligns and synchronized the component with a locally generated replica of the code sequence that was originally used to spread the information signal at the transmitter side. The rake receiver derives an early de-spread signal using an early shifted version of the replica of the code sequence. The replica is early shifted by a variable delay. The rake receiver also derives a late shifted de-spread signal using a late shifted version of the replica of the code sequence. The replica is late shifted by the same variable delay. The variable delay may be chosen arbitrarily or among a selection of predetermined values. The predetermined values may be selected so that the tracking process is optimized.

The first-network-access device periodically measures usage of the session activity in terms of a first of a plurality of measurement-method parameters. The first-network-access device debits the usage of the session activity from the blocks of credits. After entering its coverage area, the second-network-access device establishes connectivity with the wireless-mobile node. The first-network-access device tunnels to the second-network-access device the session activity and any unused credits. The second-network-access device periodically measures usage of the tunneled session activity in terms of tunneled measurement-method parameters. The second-network-access device debits the usage of the tunneled session activity from the tunneled unused credits. The second-network-access device then establishes independent network access for the session activity. The second-network-access device receives blocks of credits. The second-network-access device periodically measures the usage of the session activity in terms of another of the plurality of measurement-method parameters. The second-network-access device debits the usage of the session activity from the blocks of credits it receives. After hand-off, the first-network-access device may receive from indications to terminate session activity, to stop debiting the usage of the session activity, and/or to return unused credits.

In some embodiments, a first trajectory plot, of a mobile device, relative to the AP map, is received and a plurality of hypotheses is set, where each hypothesis defines a unique translation between the AP map and the building map. A plurality of costs may be computed for the first trajectory, where each cost of the first trajectory corresponds to a distinct hypothesis in the plurality of hypotheses. The hypothesis where the first trajectory has the lowest cost relative to the other hypotheses may be selected.
