Abstract:
Anti-microbial compositions comprising (a) a quaternary ammonium compound and (b) a cationic biocide. Applicant has discovered a synergistic combination of the two components with the ration of cationic biocide to quaternary ammonium being less than 1:10 or with a single quaternary compound in a ratio of less than 1.6 to 1 provide a film forming coating that has residual anti-bacterial activity and improved durability with strong resistance to general wear between applications.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to a color indicator that signals when the concentration of an antimicrobial solution changes. In some embodiments, the color indicator is specific for changes in the concentration of an antimicrobial quaternary ammonium compound in an antimicrobial solution. The color indicator can be incorporated into a variety of articles including towels, labels, containers, buckets, trays, sinks, spray bottles, liners for containers, buckets, sinks, or spray bottles, indictor wands or strips, and test kits.
Abstract:
A flooring is disclosed including a substrate having a coating composition thereon, the coating composition comprising a hardenable film-former and at least 0.5 weight percent of an oxidizing agent sufficient to decolorize a stain on the film-former is disclosed, wherein the oxidizing agent comprises hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite, and organo-chlorine bleaches and will at least partially decolorize a plurality of stains when applied to the hardened coating, allowed to stand for one hour at room temperature, and evaluated by visual observation of the stain under average overhead fluorescent illumination. The oxidizing agent is not consumed as a catalyst or initiator to polymerize or otherwise cause a reaction in the floor coating before it is applied and before it has hardened. A coating composition of the invention may include from about 0.8 to about 5 weight percent oxidizing agent and the film-former forms a hardened film resistant to rinsing with tap water.
Abstract:
Peroxycarboxylic acid compositions having reduced hydrogen peroxide content are generated according to the invention, having enhanced antimicrobial efficacy. Simultaneously, a stable hydrogen peroxide and active oxygen coordinating compound complex is generated and has utility as a recycled bleaching component. In particular, methods of using an active oxygen coordinating compound to selectively and non-destructively remove hydrogen peroxide are provided. Preferred active oxygen coordinating compounds suitable for use with the peroxycarboxylic acid compositions include nitrogen-containing compounds, preferably urea, urea copolymers and/or derivatives, PVP, PVP copolymers and/or derivatives, and/or inorganic carbonates.
Abstract:
According to the invention, the compositions and methods provide for the complete removal of synthetic glues or adhesives from a plurality of surfaces through the use of amide solvents in combination with surfactants, chelants, acidulants and/or additional bottle wash additives. Beneficially, the compositions and methods are suitable for use at lower temperatures, including below 35° C., and lower pH conditions, including from 5 to 10, from 6 to 9, and from 6 to 8, in comparison to conventional caustic-based adhesive removal compositions.
Abstract:
A cleaning composition is provided including an alkalinity source, builder, surfactant, water, a reducing agent and amylase in the ratio of from about 1:1 to about 1:3 wherein the total amount of amylase in the composition is equal to or less than about 1.0 weight percent; and wherein the composition is substantially free of polyols, alkanolamine, phosphates, and boric acid. A method of presoaking soiled substrates is further provided. The method including the steps of providing presoak solution to a soiled substrate at a temperature of between about 65.5° C. up to about 80° C., the presoak solution including the provided composition; draining the presoak solution from the substrate; providing a detergent to a soiled substrate including the composition of the present invention; and removing or draining the detergent; and rinsing the substrate with water.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of pre-rinsing laundry and treating other surfaces employing a composition that can kill bedbug eggs. The composition includes a fatty alcohol and an alcohol ethoxylate.
Abstract:
Treated peroxycarboxylic acid compositions and methods of using the same are provided to eliminate or reduce malodors associated therewith. Peroxycarboxylic acid compositions are treated with odor reducing agents, including various chaototropic agents. The invention further relates to methods employing the reduced odor peroxycarboxylic acid compositions.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to a dye that signals when the concentration of a quaternary ammonium compound in antimicrobial solution changes. A sensor is used to monitor changes in the dye wavelength as an indicator of the quat concentration. The use of a sensor leads to improved precision in measuring quat concentration by eliminating or reducing operator bias in reading color or wavelength changes. The dye can be incorporated into a variety of articles including towels, labels, containers, buckets, trays, sinks, spray bottles, liners for containers, buckets, sinks, or spray bottles, indictor wands or strips, and test kits.
Abstract:
