    Abstract: A compressor is provided and may include a first scroll member having an end plate and a spiral wrap extending from the end plate. The end plate may include a first modulation port and a second modulation port each in fluid communication with a compression pocket formed by the spiral wrap. A first modulation valve ring may be movable relative to the end plate between a first position blocking the first modulation port and a second position spaced apart from the first modulation port. A second modulation valve ring may movable relative to the end plate between a first position blocking the second modulation port and a second position spaced apart from the second modulation port. The second modulation ring may be located radially inward from the first modulation valve ring.

    Abstract: A compressor may include a first scroll member, a second scroll member and a drive shaft. The first scroll member may include a first end plate defining a first discharge port and a first spiral wrap extending from the first end plate. The second scroll member may include a second end plate defining a first variable volume ratio port and a second spiral wrap extending from the second end plate and meshingly engaged with the first spiral wrap and forming compression pockets. The variable volume ratio port may be located radially outward relative to the first discharge port and in communication with a first compression pocket. The drive shaft may be engaged with the second scroll member and driving orbital displacement of the second scroll member relative to the first scroll member.

    Abstract: A compressor may include a shell, first and second scrolls, a seal assembly, a modulation control chamber, and a modulation control valve. The first scroll may include a first end plate having a biasing passage extending therethrough. The seal assembly may isolate a discharge pressure region from a suction pressure region. The seal assembly and the first scroll may define an axial biasing chamber therebetween that communicates with the axial biasing chamber and a first pocket between the first and second scrolls. The modulation control chamber may be fluidly coupled with the biasing chamber by a first passage. The modulation control valve may be fluidly coupled with the modulation control chamber by a second passage and movable between a first position allowing communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region and a second position restricting communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region.

    Abstract: A compressor includes a non-orbiting scroll, an orbiting scroll, a driveshaft, a bearing housing and a bushing. The non-orbiting scroll includes a first spiral wrap. The orbiting scroll includes an end plate having a first side and a second side. The first side has a second spiral wrap that extends therefrom and meshingly engages with the first spiral wrap of the non-orbiting scroll. The second side has a hub extending therefrom. The driveshaft has a crankpin that is received in the hub and that drives the orbiting scroll. The bushing includes a first member and a second member. The first member is disposed within the hub of the orbiting scroll between the hub and the crankpin of the driveshaft. The second member extends radially from the first member and is disposed between the hub and the bearing housing.

    Abstract: A compressor may include a shell, first and second scroll members, a partition plate and a bypass valve member. The shell defines a discharge-pressure region and a suction-pressure region. The first scroll member is disposed within the shell and may include a first end plate having a discharge passage, and first and second bypass passages extending through the first end plate. The partition plate is disposed within the shell and separates the discharge-pressure region from the suction-pressure region and includes an opening in communication with the discharge-pressure region. The bypass valve member is movable between a first position restricting fluid flow through at least one of the first and second bypass passages and the opening and a second position in allowing fluid flow through the at least one of the first and second bypass passages and the opening.

    Abstract: A compressor may include first and second scroll members, first and second bearing housings, and a motor assembly. The first scroll member includes a first end plate and a first spiral wrap extending from the first end plate. The second scroll member includes a second end plate and a second spiral wrap extending from the second end plate and intermeshed with the first spiral wrap to define compression pockets therebetween. The first bearing housing supports the first scroll member for rotation about a first rotational axis. The second bearing housing may support the second scroll member for rotation about a second rotational axis that is parallel to and offset from the first rotational axis. The motor assembly may be disposed axially between the first and second bearing housings and may include a rotor attached to the first scroll member. The rotor may surround the first and second end plates.
