摘要: A method, system, and medium are provided for using a synchronized and distributed SMIL document to provide a dynamic multimedia presentation while maintaining client anonymity. An embodiment of the invention includes receiving a client request for a multimedia presentation. Client-specific information is removed from the client request and a SMIL document is generated for facilitating provision of the multimedia presentation. The SMIL document is synchronized across a plurality of network elements, and is configured to provide an interactive experience to a user.

摘要: A method, system, and medium are provided for determining whether a persistent or non-persistent connection should be given to a device that requested a web page. In one embodiment, upon receiving a request for the web page, the characteristics of the web page are evaluated to determine whether a persistent connection will be efficiently used when accessing with the web page. In another embodiment, the requesting user's behavior may be evaluated to determine whether, based on past behavior, the user will effectively use a persistent connection to the requested web site. A persistent connection is granted to requesting browsers most likely to make efficient use of the persistent connection based on the characteristics of the requested web site and/or the requesting user's browsing habits.

摘要: A method of operating a communication system to determine latent applications in a communication network comprises transferring a first packet comprising a first test code to a network node, receiving the first packet in the network node, and in response to the first test code, time stamping the first packet. The method further comprises, in the test server, determining a node latency of the network node based on the time stamps, and if the node latency is greater than a first threshold, then transferring a second packet comprising a second test code to the network node, and in the network node, receiving the second packet, and in response to the second test code, time stamping the second packet. The method further comprises, in the test server, determining an application latency of an application based the time stamps, and if the application latency is greater than a second threshold, then receiving application data associated with the application.

摘要: A mobile device requests streaming media content while being served by a first radio access network in a market area. A content streaming system obtains the requested media content, adapts the media content using a first total bandwidth availability curve (TBAC) to provide adapted media content, and streams the adapted media content to the mobile device. The first TBAC is determined from actual or projected network conditions in the market area. While receiving the media content, the mobile device roams to a second radio access network in the market area. The mobile device provides a roaming indication to the content streaming system. In response to the roaming indication, the content streaming system adapts the media content using a second TBAC to provide roaming-adapted media content and streams the roaming-adapted media content to the mobile device. The second TBAC indicates reduced bandwidth availability relative to the first TBAC.

摘要: Computer-readable media are described to delete a wireless user's website-specific data, or cookies from a wireless-network gateway. A control port is provided at the wireless-network gateway and is configured to receive commands to delete a user's cookies from databases associated with the wireless-network gateway. A command message including a command to delete the user's website-specific data is received from the user's mobile device. The command message includes a unique user identifier to assist in identifying the user's website-specific data. The user's website-specific data are also labeled with the unique user identifier when stored in the databases. The user's website-specific data are identified in the databases using the unique identifier and are deleted. A status indication may be communicated to the mobile device and to the user to indicate successful deletion of the user's cookies.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses are provided for generating electrical power for a cellular tower using solar troughs. Unlike typical long, straight solar troughs, the solar troughs are formed into circular or similar shapes such that they surround the cellular tower radially and are attached to it at different heights. A pipe is located within each solar trough at the focal point of the reflective surface of the trough. A heat-transfer liquid within the pipe is heated by reflected sunlight and flows to an energy-conversion device that converts energy from the heat-transfer liquid into electrical energy to power the cellular tower.

摘要: A wireless communication device comprises a wireless communication interface, a user interface, and a processing system. The wireless communication interface is configured to receive streaming content from a communication system. The user interface is configured to display the streaming content in a plurality of windows. The processing system is configured to monitor a screen arrangement of the wireless communication device and determine an amount that each of the windows is covered, and if the amount exceeds a threshold value, to initiate a packet indicating a source packet address of the streaming content being displayed in the covered window. The wireless communication interface is further configured to transfer the packet to the communication system, wherein the communication system receives the packet, and in response, ceases transmission of the streaming content being displayed in the covered window to the wireless communication device.

摘要: A wireless device may receive a first identifier from an access point for first wireless network that uses a first air interface protocol and a second identifier from an access point for a second wireless network that uses a second air interface protocol. The first and second identifiers may both be transmitted, for example, via the first air interface protocol. After receiving the identifiers, the wireless device may perform one or more predetermined actions. For example, the wireless device may, based on the identifiers, determine that it should communicate with the second wireless network and responsively check an availability of the second wireless network.

摘要: Systems and apparatus for splicing a generic ad into a streaming media broadcast are provided when a user ad is not available. A splicer operates to receive streaming media on a primary channel, receive the user ad from a user ad server on a first channel, receive the generic ad from a generic ad server via a multicast address on a second channel, splice the user ad on the first channel into a streamed programming, splice the generic ad on the second channel into the streamed programming, and transmit the streamed programming into which ads have been spliced to a resulting channel. The generic ad server operates to transmit the generic ad to the multicast address. The user ad server operates to transmit the user ad over the first channel. The resulting channel operates to output the streamed programming.

摘要: In a packet communication system, a PCRF processes communication policy data to generate a communication policy instruction and a user notice. The PCRF transfers the communication policy instruction for delivery to a packet gateway system. The PCRF transfers the user notice for delivery to an ANDSF. The ANDSF processes the user notice to generate and transfer a data file for delivery to a user communication device that displays the user notice based on the data file. The packet gateway system processes the communication policy instruction to filter packets exchanged with the user communication device.
