    Abstract: A method for resource and power allocation indication in a beam-based access system is provided. In an embodiment, a method for signaling power allocation in a beam-based access system includes determining, by a transmit point (TP), a relative effective transmit power offset between a control beam and a data beam. The method also includes signaling, by the TP, the relative effective transmit power offset to a user equipment (UE). The UE performs automatic gain control (AGC) on a control channel and a data channel according to the relative effective transmit power offset signaled by the TP.

    Abstract: A method includes inserting a first reference signal and a plurality of bit fields on a first channel, to produce a first signal, where the plurality of bit fields includes a first bit field indicating whether a second reference signal is transmitted on a second channel, a second bit field indicating whether the first reference signal has the same precoding as the second reference signal, a third bit field indicating whether precoding of the first reference signal is similar to precoding of the second reference signal, or a fourth bit field indicating transmission precoding differences between the first reference signal and the second reference signal. The method also includes performing precoding on the first signal, to produce a first transmission signal, performing precoding on the second channel, to produce a second transmission signal, transmitting, to a receiver, the first transmission signal and transmitting, to the receiver, the second transmission signal.

    Abstract: A method for controlling an uplink signal transmit power at the user equipment and a UE configured to perform such a method are disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes receiving a downlink reference signal transmit power associated with a first resource indicator, a downlink reference signal transmit beamforming gain associated with a second resource indicator, an uplink signal receive beamforming gain associated with a third resource indicator, and an uplink signal target receive power associated with a fourth resource indicator and transmitting an uplink signal associated with a fifth resource indicator to a transmission point with a transmit power calculated based on the combination, wherein the downlink reference signal transmit power associated with the first resource indicator and the downlink reference signal transmit beamforming gain associated with the second resource indicator are signaled together as a single metric associated with a sixth resource indicator.

    Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure provide techniques for determining a device's beam correspondence status. As used herein, a device is considered to have “beam correspondence” when the device's TX and RX antennas satisfy a calibration criteria. In one example, a device's TX and RX antennas satisfy the calibration criteria when a difference between quality parameters corresponding to reference signals transmitted and received using corresponding TX and RX beams is less than a threshold. In another example, a device's TX and RX antennas satisfy the calibration criteria when a list of indices ranking the device's TX beams matches a list of indices ranking the device's RX beams. The lists of indices may be derived by transmitting and receiving references signals according to the devices RX and TX beams, and then generating list of indices based on quality parameters of the respective RX and TX beams.

    Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure provide techniques for detecting and recovering from beam-failure events. In some embodiments, motion sensor information generated by motion sensors on a UE is used to detect, predict, and/or recover from a beam failure event that results, or would otherwise result, from movement of the UE. The motion sensor information may be used to adjust a current beam direction used by the UE to transmit or receive a signal, or to determine a recommendation for adjusting a current beam direction of the base station. The motion sensor information may be generated by any sensor that detects a movement of the UE, such as a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a magnetometer, a global positioning system (GPS) sensor, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) sensor, or any other device that detects a change in position/orientation of the UE.
