Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for removing foul odor from the stool directly from the stool area without having to first draw the foul air through the toilet closet. The apparatus includes various embodiments including a unit venting the foul air out of the toilet closet or bathroom. The apparatus includes both pressure and motion actuators for activating the fan upon the use of the toilet. Furthermore the apparatus includes a sound generation device for masking bathroom sounds and filter for treating the foul air. The apparatus may be power by household current or battery power.
Abstract:
A thin film reflector with a compliant border has been developed. The thin film reflector includes a reflective membrane and a support apparatus that applies a tensile force to the reflective membrane. A compliant border region is located between the reflective membrane and the support apparatus to distribute the tensile forces applied by the support apparatus evenly across the reflective membrane.
Abstract:
A tire insert system for assembly into a continuous ring during its positioning within a tire, and is supported on a wheel web between the wheel flanges where the continuous tire insert ring is mounted to the wheel to support a tire load for a significant travel distance should that tire lose air. The four tire insert segments each include an arcuate shaped outer portion that, when assembled end to end, form the insert ring, and each tire insert segment includes an anchor plate that is an arcuate section when assembled side by side with other anchor plates forms a flat disk having an open center portion, which anchor plate is secured to the tire insert on its top end and includes mounting holes formed in its lower portion for receiving bolt type fasteners fitted therethrough and through forward and rear wheel sections, sandwiching the anchor plates therebetween, forming the tire insert ring in the tire during a mounting of the tire between wheel flanges.
Abstract:
A system and process for treating ballast water within an ocean going vessel by generating hypochlorite for treating the ballast water. The system comprises one or more hypochlorite electrolytic cells in fluid communication with ballast water. The total organic carbon content of the ballast water is ascertained and the amount of hypochlorite generated is modulated in response to the total organic carbon content of the ballast water. In one embodiment the system comprises a total organic carbon analyzer for measuring total organic carbon content. In one embodiment of the process of the invention, hypochlorite production is modulated so that the residual halogen-containing oxidizing agent is maintained in the ballast water. In another embodiment of the process, hypochlorite production is modulated to maintain a weight ratio of hypochlorite to total organic carbon in the ballast water ranging from about 1.0 to about 3.0.
Abstract:
Message delivery approaches are disclosed through which senders can guarantee that their messages are desired by intended recipients. In one embodiment, a Sender agrees with a Service Operator to pay a fine for each message that is reported as an unwanted by its Recipient. For senders that agree in advance to pay such fines, Service Operators may provide preferential message routing around “spam” filters knowing that a guarantee is in place. If the Recipient reports that the message is unwanted, the Service Operator can penalize the Sender by a fine in the agreed amount, or by modifying a bond ratio value, rating, or other experience value associated with the Sender. Estimates of the complaints expected for a Sender may be used to determine the outcomes of the tests applied by the Receiver.
Abstract:
An airless spare tire formed from an elastomeric material, preferably a polyurethane material, that includes an outer tread, like side walls and a closed undersurface, and where the side walls have identical spaced cavities formed therein, each to intersect a center section, and which cavities each have the shape of a parallelogram with rounded corners, and have one long side at a selected angle to a tire radius from the tire center, with their short sides essentially parallel to the tire tread. Which cavities on one side of the tire are offset to those on the other tire side and the angle of the parallelogram shaped cavity long side to a radial is selected to provide for an alignment of side wall sections on one tire side with end or centers of the side wall sections on the other tire side.

Abstract:
One embodiment provides for a liquids/solids reaction vessel configured to contain a mixture of at least one liquid and at least one solid. The vessel includes a closed perimeter wall defined by an effective height, and a bottom connected to the closed perimeter wall to thereby define a vessel volume configured to contain the mixture. The reaction vessel further includes a solids extraction system located in at least one of the bottom or in the perimeter wall proximate the bottom. The effective height is selected to produce a pressure proximate the bottom of the reaction vessel selected to eject the at least one solid through the solids extraction system under the influence of gravity alone. The effective height can be further selected to cause an increase in a reaction rate between the at least one liquid and the at least one solid.
