摘要:
An apparatus for detecting a frame transmission period in a CDMA mobile communication system supporting a discontinuous transmission mode. A first frame detector performs primary frame detection by calculating a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) using traffic symbol energy, pilot symbol energy and noise energy measured for a predetermined time period, and comparing the SIR with a predetermined frame detection threshold value. A decoder calculates a symbol error rate (SER) by decoding symbols received for the predetermined time period. A second frame detector selects an SER threshold value according to frame detection information from the first frame detector, and compares the selected SER threshold value with the SER to determine whether a frame has been transmitted.

There is provided an apparatus and method for using QOF (Quasi-Orthogonal Function) Walsh codes when enough orthogonal Walsh codes are not available for a packet data service in a mobile communication system supporting concurrent provision of a high rate packet data service and a circuit call service. A data rate (DR1) in the case of using available orthogonal Walsh codes is first obtained. Then, a data rate (DR2) in the case of using QOF Walsh codes is obtained considering a power reduction factor due to the increase of interference involved with the use of the QOF Walsh codes. Packet data is transmitted at a higher data rate of DR1 and DR2. At the same time, information about the selected data rate and information about whether the QOF Walsh codes are used or not are transmitted.

A non-orthogonal noise detecting device for a CDMA communication system. In the device, a despreader despreads multiple channel signals including a specific channel with an orthogonal code assigned to the specific channel repeating at least two same second symbols at a given first symbol duration, to generate despread repeated symbols. A difference signal generator receives the despread second symbols, and generates a difference signal between a presently received second symbol and a previously received second symbol. A noise detector converts the difference signal to an energy value to generate a non-orthogonal noise signal.

A non-volatile memory device is disclosed in which a pair of two adjacent memory cell strings are commonly connected to one bit line and the memory cell strings are selectively driven to obtain a relatively wide pitch margin between two bit lines. The device has a conductive plate line which is located along each memory cell string or a pair of memory cell strings to drive memory cells thereof with a relatively low program voltage to a word line. The memory device comprises a plurality of memory cell strings which are arranged in parallel with one another and each of which extends in the same direction as a bit line 12, and a pair of two adjacent memory cell strings 11a and 11b are commonly connected to the bit line 12. The memory device also comprises a string selector for selecting either the first string 11a or the second string 11b in response to signals from string select lines SSL1 and SSL2, and a plurality of plate lines PLa or 21a and PLb or 21b which are respectively arranged on the first and second strings 11a and 11b. In the memory cell, if voltages having different levels are applied to the control gate of a memory cell of the string selected thus and the plate line, at least more than two coupling voltages are induced to a floating gate of a corresponding memory cell so that two bits of information can be stored in and read out of one memory cell. The memory device has a cell structure in which a pair of two adjacent memory cell strings are commonly connected to one bit line, so that margin width between two bit lines, i.e., a bit line pitch can be relatively widely obtained.

A runlength coding apparatus converts an input data stream including a plurality of zeros and non-zero values to a runlength coded signal. The apparatus has an input buffer, a runlength detector, and a level detector. First, the input buffer generates a first and a second sequences of the input data stream. The runlength detector provides runlengths based on the first and the second sequences, and generates indicating signals by checking whether each of elements in the first and the second sequences is zero. Meanwhile, the level detector supplies levels based on the indicating signals and the first and the second sequences. The detected runlengths and levels are combined a multiplicity of run-level pairs and provided as the runlength coded signal.

A dual-bandwidth cellular telephone switching apparatus comprising a signal receiver, the signal receiver including an antenna for receiving radio frequency signals on a field corresponding to frequency bands of at least two different cellular telephone systems, a duplexer for passing a desired frequency band component of output signals from the antenna, a low-noise amplifier for amplifying a feeble signal from the duplexer, a band pass filter for passing a desired frequency band component of an output signal from the low-noise amplifier, a synthesizer for detecting a channel being presently serviced and a mixer for mixing an output signal from the band pass filter with an output signal from the synthesizer to produce an intermediate frequency signal. The dual-bandwidth cellular telephone switching apparatus further comprises a switching section including first and second switching circuits. The first and second switching circuits selectively switch power to the two different cellular telephone systems under control of a central controller to selectively transfer an output signal from the mixer in the signal receiver thereto.
