摘要: A method of interpolation in video coding in which an image comprising pixels arranged in rows and columns and represented by values having a specified dynamic range, the pixels in the rows residing at unit horizontal locations and the pixels in the columns residing at unit vertical locations, is interpolated to generate values for sub-pixels at fractional horizontal and vertical locations, the method comprising: a) when values for sub-pixels at half unit horizontal and unit vertical locations, and unit horizontal and half unit vertical locations are required, interpolating such values directly using weighted sums of pixels residing at unit horizontal and unit vertical locations; b) when values for sub-pixels at half unit horizontal and half unit vertical locations are required, interpolating such values directly using a weighted sum of values for sub-pixels residing at half unit horizontal and unit vertical locations calculated according to step (a); and c) when values for sub-pixels at quarter unit horizontal and quarter unit vertical locations are required, interpolating such values by taking the average of at least one pair of a first pair of values of a sub-pixel located at a half unit horizontal and unit vertical location, and a sub-pixel located at a unit horizontal and half unit vertical location and a second pair of values of a pixel located at a unit horizontal and unit vertical location, and a sub-pixel located at a half unit horizontal and half unit vertical location.

摘要: A motion estimation procedure for bitrate scalability and spatial scalability, wherein an original video frame is divided into a plurality of rectangular blocks of coefficients and a plurality of reference blocks are formed from an offset of the rectangular blocks in both x and y directions. For a given original video frame, one or more reference frames are selected so that a plurality of differences between the reference blocks and the rectangular blocks can be computed partly based on the summation of the differences between individual coefficients in each block. A weighted sum of the differences is computed and minimized so as to optimize the offset.

摘要: A method, program product and apparatus for decoding from a scalable bit stream the binarization results of a video sequence by selectively decoding syntax elements and avoiding redundancy in coding. The result is a decrease in the size of the compressed bit stream of an enhancement layer bit stream. It has been demonstrated that the compression efficiency equals that of a single, non-scalable video stream for some video sequences. These features may be achieved by determining whether a skipping flag in the base layer macro block of the video data is set, and decoding a skipping flag from an enhancement layer macro block of the video data, corresponding to the base layer macro block, only if the base layer macro block skipping flag is set.

摘要: A binarization procedure in scalable video coding, wherein a video sequence is encoded in a manner such that an encoded sequence characterized by a lower bit rate can be produced through selective removal of bits from the bitstream. The binarization procedure is used to form a plurality of enhancement layers, each of which is associated with a quantization step-size. An interval is obtained based on the quantization step-size and the reconstructed values of the enhancement layer coefficients. Based on the predicted values of the enhancement layer coefficients and the original coefficients of the video data, the interval is refined and the reconstruction values are recomputed in order to reduce the quantization step-size for the next enhancement layer.

摘要: For each prediction unit (PU) belonging to a coding unit (CU), a video coder generates a candidate list. The video coder generates the candidate list such that each candidate in the candidate list that is generated based on motion information of at least one other PU is generated without using motion information of any of the PUs belonging to the CU. After generating the candidate list for a PU, the video coder generates a predictive video block for the PU based on one or more reference blocks indicated by motion information of the PU. The motion information of the PU is determinable based on motion information indicated by a selected candidate in the candidate list for the PU.

摘要: In one example, an apparatus includes a video encoder configured to partition a block of video data into a first geometric partition and a second geometric partition using a geometric motion partition line, wherein the block comprises N×N pixels, divide the block of video data into four equally-sized, non-overlapping (N/2)×(N/2) sub-blocks, and encode at least one of the sub-blocks through which the geometric motion partition line passes using a transform size smaller than (N/2)×(N/2). The video encoder may determine transform sizes for the sub-blocks based on whether the geometric motion partition line passes through the sub-blocks. In one example, a video decoder may inverse transform the sub-blocks, and may determine transform sizes for the sub-blocks based on whether the geometric motion partition line passes through the sub-blocks.

摘要: This disclosure presents methods and systems for coding video in merge mode of a motion vector prediction process. A method of coding video data may determining a merge candidate set for a current prediction unit of a current coding unit, wherein the merge candidate set is determined without comparing motion information of a merge candidate in the merge candidate set to motion information of any other prediction units, and performing a merge motion vector prediction process for the current prediction unit using the merge candidate set. The method may further comprise excluding merge candidates from the merge candidate set that are within another prediction unit of the current coding unit.
