摘要: A method for the production of a converter-carrier body having a metallic honeycomb body made of a plurality of metal layers, especially smooth layers and corrugated layers, the layers having layer ends, such that an outer shape of the honeycomb body is formed by the layer ends. At least one stack is produced having several alternately disposed metal layers that are structured such that channels are formed for a fluid to flow through. The at least one stack is transformed into a honeycomb body having a cylindrical form. The honeycomb body is deformed from the cylindrical form so that an outer shape that deviates from the cylindrical form is produced. Additionally, the invention relates to a corresponding converter-carrier body and a tool for the production thereof.

摘要: A method for producing a structured sheet-metal strip includes feeding a smooth sheet-metal strip to a shaping apparatus along a guiding direction. A primary structure is produced in the smooth sheet-metal strip through the use of the shaping apparatus, during which a number of separate shaping tools act upon the sheet-metal strip in a manner that is substantially perpendicular to the guiding direction. An apparatus for producing a structured sheet-metal strip can produce the structured sheet-metal strips with a particularly low ratio of corrugation length to corrugation height. Such structured sheet-metal strips are used, in particular, for producing purification components in mobile exhaust gas systems.

摘要: A method for applying brazing material to metal structures is used, in particular, for honeycomb bodies of exhaust gas catalytic converters. The brazing material is applied in the form of a powder and is firmly held to the metal structures through the use of an adhesive material acting as a bonding agent, binder or adhesion promoter. The adhesive material that is used to firmly hold the brazing powder assumes two different states with respect to its adhesive action during the production process of the metal structure. A first state is less adhesive and a second state is more strongly adhesive. The adhesive strength can be selected or adjusted as a function of external conditions, especially temperature. Therefore, at a given time the adhesive material can be put into a state which is suitable for each production step, as a result of which the brazing material quality is increased and the production process is simplified.

摘要: The apparatus produces a honeycomb body, in particular a catalytic carrier body, from at least one stack of structured metal sheets which define a plurality of passages through which a fluid flows in the honeycomb body. The apparatus has a forked holding device which engages each stack, and former segments. The former segments are closeable to constitute a former. Each former segment has a respective surface portion. When the segments are closed, the surface portions jointly define the external shape of the honeycomb body to be produced. At least two of the former segments are displaceable such that at least a part of each surface portion, bearing against the stack, describes a path of movement towards free ends of the stack. The path of movement corresponds to the external shape of the honeycomb body.
