Abstract:
The present invention provides a collision avoidance apparatus and method employing stereo vision applications for adaptive vehicular control. The stereo vision applications are comprised of a road detection function and a vehicle detection and tracking function. The road detection function makes use of three-dimensional point data, computed from stereo image data, to locate the road surface ahead of a host vehicle. Information gathered by the road detection function is used to guide the vehicle detection and tracking function, which provides lead motion data to a vehicular control system of the collision avoidance apparatus. Similar to the road detection function, stereo image data is used by the vehicle detection and tracking function to determine the depth of image scene features, thereby providing a robust means for identifying potential lead vehicles in a headway direction of the host vehicle.
Abstract:
A technique for stylus-based syllabic input that is fast and easy and does not require any additional hardware and can be deployed on a handheld device is described. In one example embodiment, this is accomplished by writing a base syllabic character consisting of a vowels or consonant in a writing area. One or more modifiers that are displayed as icons substantially around the writing area of a syllabic level user interface are then selected to form a desired syllabic character. The one or more modifiers are arranged at familiar/natural positions around the base character's writing area to facilitate entry/selection of modifiers and to reduce eye movement/cognitive load on the user. The syllabic characters are then accumulated locally until a desired word is formed, to reduce visual disconnect between the input interface and the end application, and to provide context for formation of the desired word. Further, one or more hypothesis words are then presented to speed up the formation and inputting of a desired word. The formed desired word is then cleared from the display area and sent to an application display area by tapping a space button provided in the syllabic character input user interface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method to send a promotional offer from a business entity. The method steps include obtaining a profile of the business entity from a financial management application (FMA) executing on a central processing unit (CPU) and configured to manage operations of the business entity, analyzing a plurality of messages from a message source based on a pre-determined criterion to identify a keyword, qualifying the keyword to generate a qualified keyword with a keyword rating, wherein the keyword rating represents how relevant the keyword is to the business entity based on the profile of the business entity, searching for the qualified keyword in the promotional offer among a plurality of promotional offers in a library to generate a match between the qualified keyword and the promotional offer, adjusting a score of the promotional offer, in response to generating the match, based on the keyword rating, and sending the promotional offer to a consumer based on the score.
Abstract:
In a conventional secondary fuel nozzle for a gas turbine combustion system, secondary air enters and flows around pegs to mix with fuel injected through holes in pegs. Because the pegs are in the air flow area, undesirable pressure drops occur adversely affecting turbine's efficiency and leading to higher emissions. A novel secondary fuel nozzle is provided in which fuel is injected upstream of the secondary air entry location, which allows the pegs to be removed from the flow area. An example secondary fuel nozzle includes a nozzle body delivering fuel, a nozzle housing surrounding the nozzle body and defining air passages for the secondary air to enter and flow toward an end of the nozzle body, and a premix fuel unit positioned upstream of the air passages injecting fuel delivered by the nozzle body into the secondary air for premixing prior to combustion.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the methods and apparatuses view content that corresponds with a particular time period during a collaboration session; identify a plurality of attendee devices participating in the collaboration session at the particular time period; determine an attention status of each attendee device at the particular time period; and display the attention status of the plurality of attendee devices at the particular time period.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the methods and apparatuses detect devices participating in a collaboration session; monitor the devices for an attribute corresponding to an attention level of each of the devices; and determine whether each device is active based on the attention level.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide methods for preparing high density membrane protein membranes by slow, controlled removal of detergent from mixtures of detergent, block copolymers and membrane protein mixtures. Membranes created by this method are also provided. The structure of these membranes may be varied by varying the amount of membrane protein.
Abstract:
Improved techniques of identifying actions to take in response to events involve assigning, to each set of event parameter values which characterizes an event, a set of weight values, each weight value indicative of a probability of the event belonging to a cluster of events which follow a set of rules. To continue the previous example, an event management system may determine the probability of the first event belonging to the first cluster is 51% and that for the first event belonging to the second cluster is 49%, while the probability of the second event belonging to the first cluster is 49% and that for the second event belonging to the second cluster is 51%. In such a case, the event management system can be configured to respond to such similarly configured events in similar ways.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with data editing in a web-based interactive web response system are described. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a request to perform an edit on a data field over a web-based protocol. The request is sent to an approval function that accesses stored authorization data to select an approval level associated with the data field. The approval function also determines an authorized approver mapped to the approval level to generate a notification over the web-based protocol. The notification is transmitted to at least one authorized approver over the web-based protocol. Approval to perform the edit is received from the at least one authorized approver over the web-based protocol.
