Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to the construction, expression, and selection of genes that encode novel Trp cage polypeptides with desirable cell and/or tissue binding properties, as well as the novel Trp cage polypeptides themselves. A polypeptide of this disclosure may contain all or part of amino acid sequence AAADX1YX2QWLX3X4X5GPX6SGRPPPX7 (SEQ ID NO: 4), wherein Xn represents an amino acid found in position n, the polypeptide comprising a tryptophan cage (Trp cage).

Abstract:
A child safety seat comprises a seat body having opposed side wall portions, a retention harness comprising opposed harness side portions, and a retention member carried on each side wall portion to connect and hold the latch of each harness side portion in a laterally spaced position from the other latch of the other harness side portion, which position is typically elevated relative to their position of use. This facilitates the placement of a child into the safety seat prior to latching the retention harness latches together.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for reducing drilling vibration during drilling with casing. In one embodiment, an apparatus for reducing vibration of a rotating casing includes a tubular body disposed concentrically around the casing, wherein tubular body is movable relative to the casing. Preferably, a portion of the tubular body comprises a friction reducing material. In operation, the tubular body comes into contact with the existing casing or the wellbore instead of the rotating casing. Because the tubular body is freely movable relative to the rotating casing, the rotating casing may continuously rotate even though the tubular body is frictionally in contact with the existing casing.
Abstract:
A sound activated fountain display. A plurality of transducers are disposed on the bottom of the pool of a fountain display with the fountain being normally off. Whenever a coin is tossed into the fountain's pool, the sound waves generated by the coin are received by the transducers, activating the fountain display. By gating the responses of the various transducers, the area of the pool in which the coin was tossed may be identified. In this manner, the display may be caused to be directed to that area of the pool, customizing the display for that particular viewer. If desired, the fountain display may be in a central pool with separate "satellite" coin pools surrounding the fountain and for activating the fountain display.
Abstract:
A fire display that may reside under a viewing window or panel. The display may include a tray or channel along which a fire ball or fire wave may travel. The display includes a gas delivery system.
Abstract:
A light display system and device for use in a body of water or other liquid is described. The light display device may be controlled remotely via a control hub and/or control panel, or controlled by internally preprogrammed commands. A plurality of light display devices may be controlled in selected, choreographed sequences to provide various unique visual displays including, for example, geometrical patterns and/or naturalistic patterns giving the impression of organic phenomena such as swarming fireflies, bioluminescent creatures and the like.
Abstract:
A display where lights may be programmed to randomly flash is described. The randomness may be changed by changing the mode of flashing. The lights may extend along strings that are powered by a power supply that may itself be plugged into a socket that had previously served as a light socket. The display may be added to existing displays to enhance existing visual effects. The display may be submerged and the lights may remain upright because of their buoyancy.
Abstract:
A water delivery device that may be used in a water display is described. The device includes an orifice or outlet through which water is shot out. The shape and configuration of the water device may be varied to dynamically adjust the configuration of the water shot out from the device. For example, the water delivery device may shoot out water in the shape of a fan, and the width of the fan may be varied.
Abstract:
An ice display device includes a chill tube and a piston that slides within the chill tube providing a fluidtight seal against the interior. The tube is filled with water and cooled to form an ice column. A shutter may selectively close the upper end of the chill tube with a fluidtight seal while the ice column is formed. The tube is warmed and the piston is lifted to an upper end of the tube to display the ice column. A plurality of water nozzles may selectively discharge streams of high pressure water inwardly to sculpt the ice column. An armature may extend upwardly from the piston to support and cool an interior of the ice column. The tube and armature may be cooled and warmed by a thermal transfer fluid. A device may be provided to induce turbulence in the thermal transfer fluid.
Abstract:
A natural formulation of compounds isolated or derived from hops which inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and/or 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) is disclosed. The hops formulations may be administered to a mammal to treat or inhibit a pathological condition associated with the activity of COX-2 and/or 5-LOX in such a mammal.
