摘要: A knee prosthesis kit includes an implant and an augment. The implant has a base and a stem extending from the base, and the augment has a base and a conical, cylindrical, or anatomic portion extending from the base. The augment base has at least two openings for receiving fasteners for securing the knee augment to the implant. The portion and the base define a bore for receipt of the implant post. A coupler includes a mating portion for receipt in a bore of an implant post, and a cone-shaped portion extending from the mating portion. A method of providing fixation of knee implants includes securing an augment to an implant and positioning a conical, cylindrical, or anatomic portion of the augment within the intramedullary canal of the tibia or femur.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a mechanical ball joint assembly which is particularly useful in finishing tools. The finishing tools may be used, for example, to prepare drywall surfaces for decorating and/or painting. The mechanical ball joint assembly may allow a body casting of the finishing tool to rotate in almost any direction with respect to ball joint and handle portion of the finishing tool. As a result, the body casting may be used to perform work on the drywall at many different angles, including ninety degree angles at the corners of most rooms. An opening in the ball joint assembly of the finishing tool may secure a ball joint portion by, for example, a moveable securing rod having an indentation. The movable securing rod of the ball joint assembly may allow the user to temporarily secure the ball joint within the opening of the ball joint assembly. The movable securing rod is spring-loaded to secure the ball joint within the opening of the ball joint assembly. The ball joint may be removed from the opening of the ball joint assembly to, for example, clean, replace, repair, store or transport the finishing tool.

摘要: A method of controlling the evaporation of liquid in samples in an evaporating centrifuge, by monitoring the centrifugal force exerted on a sample holder containing a liquid sample having solid material dissolved or otherwise mixed therein. The centrifugal force is determined using a load cell, a strain gauge or, where relative movement between sample holder and rotor is permitted albeit with resilient restraint, the centrifugal force signal may be generated by a position sensing transducer. The speed of rotation is sensed by a further transducer and both force and speed signals are conveyed to a computer programmed to generate a process control signal for controlling the evaporation process therefrom. A preferred method of control involves determining the rate of change of weight with time and terminating the evaporation process when the rate of change drops to zero. Evaporation is assisted by heating the samples and the process control signals determine not only the speed of rotation, but also the heating of the samples. A weight signal can be computed from the force signal by reference to the speed signal which is proportional to the centrifugal force acting on the sample holder and therefore the sample.

摘要: Interelectrode parasitic capacitance coupling between the top plates of a bar-cap is avoided by a shielding electrode layer on the top surface of the bar-cap's ceramic substrate adjacent to, but spaced apart from, each of the top plates. The shielding layer has a plurality of windows through which respective surface regions of the top surface of the bar-cap are exposed. Within the windows respective ones of the top plates of the capacitors of the bar-cap are provided, each plate being spaced apart from the shielding layer. The shielding layer is coupled to a source of reference potential (ground) so as to provide an electrical shield around each of the top plates of the capacitors and thereby effectively prevent parasitic capacitive coupling through the ceramics substrate between adjacent ones of the top plates. Grounding of the shielding layer may be accomplished by a direct wire connection to the shielding layer or by forming a conductive layer along a sidewall of the ceramic substrate to integrally electrically join the shielding layer to a bottom conductor. In a second embodiment of the invention, isolation between adjacent decoupling capacitors of the bar-cap is effected by forming respective grooves or channels between surface regions of the substrate in which the capacitor top plates are formed, thereby interrupting the continuity of the surface of the ceramic substrate and preventing the establishment of a parasitic capacitance between neighboring plates of the bar-cap.
