摘要: Method and Systems for extracting a concentrated sample of particles include priming a concentrate reservoir by passing a fluid through the concentrate reservoir to remove air. The concentrate reservoir has a first end with an opening and second end with an opening. The second end of the concentrate reservoir is closed off, and particles are accumulated within the concentrate reservoir by use of a particle concentrator. Thereafter, the first end of the concentrate reservoir is closed off, isolating the concentrate reservoir from particle concentrator, from which the particles were obtained. The second end of the concentrate reservoir is thereafter opened, and the particles of the concentrated sample in the concentrate reservoir are extracted to a sample capture reservoir through the second end opening of the concentrate reservoir.

摘要: Various embodiments of a tissue cutting device are described, such as a device with an elongate tube having a proximal end and a distal end and a central axis extending from the proximal end to the distal end; a first annular element at the distal end of the elongate tube, the first annular element having a flat portion at its distal end perpendicular to the central axis, the flat portion extending from an outer circumference of the first annular element to the central axis; and a second annular element at the distal end of the elongate tube and concentric with the first annular element, the second annular element having a flat portion at its distal end perpendicular to the central axis, at least one of the first or second annular elements rotatable about the central axis, the rotation causing the first annular element and the second annular element to pass each other to shear tissue.

摘要: An electric paper apparatus comprised of a single sheet of components, and a method of forming same, are provided. The single layer includes display elements, such as bi-stable pixel structures, and conductive particles, both preferably embedded in an insulating matrix of material (e.g. non-conductive particles). The display elements, or bi-stable pixel structures, take the exemplary form of microencapsulated bichromal spheres. The conductive particles serve as both conductive islands and as a ground plane. In this regard, the conductive particles form a discontinuous random pattern of conductive islands on one side of the sheet, and a continuous electrically conductive percolative network, or ground plane, on the other side of the sheet. This is accomplished by varying the effective percolation threshold across the thickness of the sheet. Doing so will provide particles on one side that are below the percolation threshold (e.g. the conductive islands) while the particles on the other side (e.g. the ground plane) are above the percolation threshold.

摘要: Catheter device and driving system configured to navigate the catheter through complex narrow tissue openings such as lung bronchi pathway openings of 3 millimeters or less. The device comprises a proximal catheter portion containing a hollow torque shaft, with a distal catheter portion connected to the proximal portion by an isolation transition coupler connected to this torque shaft. The distal position of the catheter is controlled by at least one steering cable/isolation coil arrangement. The system uses processor-controlled actuators that simultaneously rotate the torque shaft and the at least one steering cable/isolation coil in a 1:1 relationship, while also actuating the steering cable. The catheter is tipped by a tool plate, which can be equipped with various sensors and other instruments, connected to the outside via other conduits.

摘要: System and method for using processor-controlled actuators to drive multi-stage catheter devices configured to navigate through complex narrow tissue openings such as lung bronchi pathway openings. The device comprises a proximal catheter portion containing a hollow torque shaft, with a distal catheter portion connected to the proximal portion by a rotatable coupler connected to this hollow shaft. The distal position of the proximal catheter can be controlled by independently controlled proximal stage steering cables positioned outside of the shaft, and the shaft itself can be used to rotate the distal catheter about the rotatable coupler. The position of the distal end of the distal catheter can be further controlled by distal stage steering cables positioned inside of the hollow shaft. The device is tipped by a tool plate, which can be equipped with various sensors and other instruments, connected to the outside via other conduits.
