摘要: A strut, or beam, is provided for intraluminal devices. Strain which is introduced into a stent or other intraluminal device is distributed more evenly along the length of the improved strut by maintaining a substantially constant strain level along the length of an end portion. This may increase fatigue life or improve the performance of devices using the improved strut. The strain along the length of the end portion may be maintained substantially constant by varying a section property of the strut, including the width, thickness, cross-sectional area, material property or other characteristic of the end portion.

摘要: The present examples provide a stent for use in a medical procedure that comprises at least one apex having first and second generally straight portions and a curved portion disposed between the first and second straight portions. The curved portion may comprise at least one region having a cross-sectional area that is less than a cross-sectional area of the first and second straight portions, which may facilitate compression of the stent and insertion of the stent into smaller vessels. The stent may be used alone, or in conjunction with a stent-graft, and may comprise one or more barbs configured to engage an inner wall of a vessel or duct.

摘要: A self-expanding medical device delivery system includes a plurality of trigger wires. The trigger wires retain a self-expanding medical device by forming a bend about structural members located on the proximal portion of the medical device. The proximal portions of the trigger wires have a greater diameter than the distal portions of the trigger wires to provide increased bending strength. An operator releases the self-expanding medical device by withdrawing the trigger wires in the distal direction. In some embodiments, a small portion at the proximal end of each trigger wire has a smaller diameter than the rest of the proximal portion. In other embodiments, the proximal and distal portions of each trigger wire each have a greater diameter than the center of the trigger wire.

摘要: The present embodiments provide a valve for implantation in a patient, for example, an aortic valve. The valve comprises a proximal region comprising a cylindrical shape, and a distal region having a generally rectangular shape comprising opposing flat surfaces that are separated by narrower flat sides. A tapered region is disposed between the proximal and distal regions, where the tapered region comprises two opposing flat surfaces that transition into the opposing flat surfaces of the distal region. The opposing flat surfaces of the tapered region are angled relative to the proximal and distal regions. The opposing flat surfaces at the distal end of the valve allow fluid flow therethrough during antegrade flow and are generally adjacent to one another to inhibit blood flow through the valve during retrograde flow. Optionally, at least one reinforcement member may be coupled to the valve to prevent prolapse of the valve during retrograde flow.

摘要: A stent graft has a tubular side arm which can be angled proximally and distally and from side to side. The wall of the stent graft in the vicinity of the side arm has a loose fold of the graft material and the side arm is fastened to the loose fold of graft material. The tubular side arm has an inner end and an outer end and is fastened into the loose fold of graft material by a circumferential fastening around the tubular side arm between the inner end and the outer end so that the tubular side arm extends partially within the tubular body of the stent graft and partially outside the tubular body of the stent graft. The loose fold of graft material can be formed by the graft material defining a recess in the wall of the stent graft. To enable movement or angulation proximally and distally and from side to side the loose fold of graft material is provided both proximally and distally of the tubular side arm and circumferentially to each side of the tubular side arm.
