摘要: A system and method for remotely monitoring and/or controlling an apparatus and specifically for remotely monitoring and/or controlling an alarm. The alarm monitoring and control system comprises alarm units for detecting an associated alarm condition; at least one monitoring and control unit, coupled to a group of the alarm units, for receiving alarm information; and a base station, coupled via an IVDS link to the at least one monitoring and control unit, for receiving alarm data from said at least one monitoring and control unit. The present invention allows the combination of alarm and lamp monitoring and control functions in a single monitoring and control unit. Furthermore, it allows image data to be collected at either the alarm unit or the monitoring and control unit when an alarm condition is detected. Additionally in accordance with another embodiment, it allows the alarm condition to be generated by a panic button.

摘要: A fiber optic network comprises an optical fiber connection (one fiber or two) from a central office to an intelligent interface device in the subscriber's premises. The central office includes a serving node transceiver providing communication links to/from at least a narrowband switch and a broadband switch for providing narrowband and broadband service routing. The network includes at least one passive power splitter/combiner for passing all wavelengths on the optical fiber connection between the serving node transceiver and the intelligent interface devices. All wavelengths are provided to each customer and bandwidth on the optical fiber loop is dynamically allocated for individual services on demand through two-way wavelength division multiplexing and demultiplexing as well as any necessary signal format conversions. The network has media access control functionality and utilizes a dynamic media access control procedure for allocation of the bandwidth.

摘要: A method for cleaning and conditioning a plasma processing chamber wherein oxide residues have been previously formed on interior surfaces of the chamber. The method includes introducing a cleaning gas including a fluorine-based gas into the chamber followed by performing a plasma cleaning step. The plasma cleaning step is performed by activating the cleaning gas mixture and forming a plasma cleaning gas, contacting interior surfaces of the chamber with the plasma cleaning gas and removing oxide residues on the interior surfaces. The cleaning step is followed by coating the interior surfaces with silicon dioxide to adhere loose particles to the interior surfaces and a conditioning step wherein uncoated interior surfaces are treated to remove fluorine therefrom. An advantage of the cleaning and conditioning method is that it is not necessary to open the chamber. Also, it is possible to remove oxide residues during the cleaning step and remove fluorine remaining after the cleaning step during the conditioning step. The conditioning step is carried out by introducing a hydrogen-containing gas into the chamber as a purge gas or the chamber can be pressurized by the hydrogen-containing gas followed by evacuating the chamber.

摘要: Problems in producing decorative articles having a shrinkable plastic film secured thereto are eliminated by disposing between the article and the plastic film finely divided particulate matter. The particulate matter is of a particle size to form a texture on the article surface which permits escape of trapped air when the shrinkable plastic film is shrunk or to form trapped air cells which are so small and distributed so as to be substantially invisible to the naked eye. The particulate material can be dusted and evenly distributed on the article itself or dusted and distributed over the surface of the shrinkable film which contacts the article. Most preferably, the particulate material is applied in the form of a liquid coating.

摘要: A disk drive is described which includes means for executing distributed computing tasks including a CPU and associated memory. The communication interface with the host computer is modified to allow the host computer to send executable code for a task to the drive and to allow the drive to communicate the results and status information about the task to the host computer. In a preferred embodiment the disk drive has a task control program, task program code, task data and status information for the distributed task. In alternative embodiments, the disk drive can communicate with other similar disk drives in the bus to provide the results of computation to the other processors. The RAM memory, and mass storage are intimately connected through the associated hard disk controller such that the exact location of the required data and program instructions are known.

摘要: An intelligent disk drive is described which includes means for prioritizing execution of command by maintaining an associated priority with each command in a pending command list and executing the highest priority commands first. The command structure according to the invention includes a field in which the host specifies the priority of the command. One embodiment uses a plurality of stacks which are used to sort the command according to priority. Another embodiment uses a list structure. In an alternative embodiment the drive has means for ensuring that designated data written to the disk is not subject to fragmentation. The disk drive embodiments described above can be implemented in an intelligent disk drive with distributed processing capability.
