Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine separate uplink (UL) power limitations for multiple transmission time interval (TTI) durations based on distinct power control parameters. In some cases, an adjustment factor or a power backoff may be applied to communications using one TTI duration to ensure that total transmit power does not exceed a threshold. The UE and the serving base station may also identify one or more demodulation reference signal (DMRS) windows. UL data transmissions may be demodulated based on a DMRS sent during the same window. Transmit power control (TPC) commands may be applied at the beginning of each window. However, if an UL transmission is scheduled at the beginning of the window, the UE may wait until a DMRS transmission or until no more transmissions are scheduled for the window before applying the TPC adjustment.

Abstract: Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for latency reduction for UEs in a RRC connected mode. During contention-based uplink access by groups of UEs within a subframe, an eNB may decode the received uplink transmission based, at least in part, on the assigned group of resources assigned to the UE and used for transmission. Additional orthogonalization techniques such as reduced TTI size can be used to reduce collisions among different users performing contention-based transmissions. Furthermore, when the eNB fails to successfully decode the uplink transmission, the eNB may identify the UE that sent the uplink transmission based on a detected reference signal and may transmit an uplink assignment to the identified UE.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may be used for low latency communications. For example, aspects allow a single group acknowledgement to be used to acknowledge a plurality of low latency transmissions. An exemplary method generally includes receiving, from a base station, a plurality of downlink channel transmissions, wherein each of the downlink channel transmissions is sent using a first transmission time interval (TTI) that is reduced relative to a legacy TTI and providing, in a single uplink channel transmission sent using a second TTI that is larger than the first TTI, a group acknowledgement indicating whether or not the downlink channel transmissions were successfully received by a UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems (e.g., New Radio (NR) systems) may support the dynamic configuration of time intervals (or slots) for communication in a specific link direction (e.g., uplink, downlink, sidelink, etc.). In such cases, a base station may dynamically allocate time intervals (or slots) for broadcast or multicast data (e.g., via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH)) based on the dynamically determined configuration of certain time intervals (or slots). The dynamic allocation of resources for broadcast or multicast data may ensure that broadcast or multicast data is not scheduled to be transmitted during time intervals configured for uplink communication. In some cases, the broadcast or multicast data may be transmitted on a portion of a system bandwidth that is frequency division multiplexed with another portion of the system bandwidth allocated for mobile broadband (MBB) communications.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless communications systems as described herein may be configured to support several service types with different latency, reliability, or throughput rates or standards. One such service type may be referred to as ultra-reliable, low-latency communications (URLLC). Enhancements to improve URLLC performance in coexistence with and as a complement to legacy service types, such as LTE are described. These include, for example, enhanced timing resource allocations, enhanced transmission repetition schemes, enhanced feedback mechanisms, or a combination of these features to achieve certain reliability and latency targets.

Abstract: Handling of asynchronous multi-carrier is discussed. In new radio (NR) fifth generation (5G) networks, the potential for provision of multi-carrier operations (e.g., carrier aggregation (CA), dual connectivity (DC), etc.) that include asynchronous component carriers (CCs) has been proposed. However, because of the asynchronous relationship network entities, such as base stations and user equipments (UEs) will manage the asynchronous CCs by obtaining timing offset information, either through derivation or direct signaling, and determining a subframe correspondence based on the timing offset relative to a reference CC. By determining the subframe correspondence to the reference CC, the base stations and UEs can accurately map communications over the asynchronous CCs to the appropriate subframes across CCs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) or a base station may identify a timing advance parameter and a processing parameter for the UE, and one or both may determine a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing based on the identified parameters. For example, if the UE has a large timing advance or reduced processing capacity, a longer HARQ timing may be chosen. When the UE receives downlink (DL) transmissions from the base station, the UE may send an acknowledgement (ACK) or negative acknowledgement (NACK) based on the chosen HARQ timing. The base station may send a retransmission (in the case of a NACK) based on the HARQ timing. In some cases, the UE may request a specific HARQ timing, or request an updated timing advance. If HARQ synchronization is lost, the UE and the base station may default to a preconfigured HARQ timing.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In one example, an indication in a first control message in a control region of a first transmission time interval (TTI) identifies a data region of the first TTI. A data region of the second TTI may be identified based on a grant of resources received in a second control message of a second TTI, where the data region of the first TTI and the control region of the second TTI are frequency division multiplexed with the data region of the second TTI. Other examples include a downlink grant at the beginning of a control region and uplink grants at the end of the control region. In other examples, a downlink grant for a user equipment (UE) may include an indication of resources allocated to the UE in that resource block and a second resource block.
