Abstract:
A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) without a radio resource control (RRC) connection to a base station includes receiving system information from the base station and transmitting a data communication to the base station over a control plane without establishing an RRC connection with the base station. A UE in an RRC suspended state may transmit a data communication to the base station over a user plane without resuming an RRC connection with the base station. The data communication may comprise data and UE identity information and/or a cause indication. A base station may indicate resources in the system information for the transmission of the data communication information and receive the data communication over the control plane without establishing an RRC connection with the UE or over a user plane without resuming an RRC connection with an RRC suspended UE.
Abstract:
Techniques described herein use a wakeup signal to indicate to a user equipment (UE) whether an upcoming control channel signal resource includes information relevant to the UE. In this way, the UE can wake up to perform complex control channel signal processing only when the control channel includes signals relevant to the UE, thereby conserving battery power and resources of the UE. Such techniques are particularly suited to MTC UEs, NB-IoT UEs, and/or the like, which may communicate with a network only occasionally, and which may be located in remote locations where changing or recharging a battery is difficult.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus retrieves a particular number corresponding to a UE. To retrieve the particular number, the apparatus may receive the particular number through a channel request from the UE. Alternately, the apparatus may assign the particular number to the UE in order to retrieve the particular number. The apparatus determines a resource block within a coverage class based on the particular number. To determine the resource block, the apparatus maps the particular number to a resource block number within the coverage class using a hash function. The resource block number identifies the resource block. The apparatus transmits a device-specific control message to the UE using the determined resource block.
Abstract:
The present patent application improves DARP by allowing multiple users on one time slot (MUROS). It comprises means and instructions for signaling training sequence set information to a remote station, comprising receiving signaling from a remote station indicating if a new set of training sequences is supported, and using a channel description to signal the training sequence set to be used by the remote station for a communication channel being established. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure discusses devices, methods, and systems for improving signaling. This can occur, according to some implementations, by increasing a power of at least one signaling channel if errors on the signaling channel occur, comprising tracking quality of the at least one signaling channel, determining whether the at least one signaling channel has an error rate that is above a threshold, and increasing power to the at least one signaling channel if the error rate is above the threshold. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing delivery of a small amount of mobile originated (MO) or mobile terminated (MT) data.
Abstract:
A UE may receive, from at least one cell via at least one bit in a MIB or a SIB, a barring indication based on a supported network of the at least one cell and a supported network of the UE. The supported network of the at least one cell may correspond to a TN or an NTN, and the supported network of the UE may correspond to a TN or an NTN. The UE may skip, based on the received barring indication, a selection of the at least one cell for communication. Accordingly, the UE may not camp on the at least one cell. The barring indication for NTN-supporting UEs and for TN-supporting UEs may be separately indicated via the MIB or the SIB.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes performing a mobility procedure to establish a connection in a target radio access technology (RAT) while maintaining a context established in a source RAT, wherein one of the source RAT or target RAT is a terrestrial network (TN) RAT and the other is a non-terrestrial network (NTN) RAT and sending a tracking area update (TAU) request after establishing the connection in the target RAT.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to transmit to a base station a first message of a random access procedure, and the UE may monitor a control channel according to a first monitoring configuration. The UE may receive the second message from the base station in response to the first message. The second message may include a grant for a set of uplink resources for transmitting a third message of the random access procedure. The UE may transmit the third message including a data payload to the base station using the uplink resources, where the third message may include a data payload. The UE may monitor the control channel according to a second monitoring configuration (e.g., monitoring fewer occasions for control information than the first monitoring configuration), and the UE may receive the fourth message.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for resuming communications with a non-terrestrial network in discontinuous coverage. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining that the UE is or will be in an out-of-coverage state with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) for a first duration; entering a power saving state in response to the determination; exiting the power saving state when the UE expects to be in an in-coverage state with the NTN; and taking one or more actions to resume communications with the NTN.
