摘要: An electrically conductive surface of a submerged object comprises a polymer matrix, such as a resin, with a plurality of electrically conductive nanoparticles suspended within the polymer. The nanoparticles are preferably smaller than 100 nanometers in their minimum dimension. In addition, large electrically conductive particles can be suspended in the polymer. The larger particles are typically greater than 300 nanometers in minimum dimension. The larger particles can comprise carbon powder or fibers. The electrically conductive nanoparticles, which can be nanotubes or ferrules, for example, and the larger particles, which can be carbon powder or fibers, are suspended homogeneously within the polymer matrix for best results and most uniform electrical conduction through the thickness of the composite layer.

摘要: A marine propulsion device is made of first and second portions which are removably attachable to each other. The second portion is the leading edge portion of the nose cone and the drive shaft housing. It can also comprise a portion of the skeg. The second portion is configured to crush more easily in response to an impact force than the first portion. This can be accomplished by making the second portion from a different material than the first portion, which can be aluminum, or by providing one or more crush boxes within the structure of the second portion to cause it to yield more quickly to an impact force and thus protect the first portion which is the more critical structure of the marine device.

摘要: A method of treating the upper urinary tract of a mammal having a urethra extending to a bladder and a ureter extending from the bladder to a kidney. The method comprises initially extending a catheter system into the upper urinary tract, the catheter system having a urethral catheter infusion tube section extending through the urethra for infusion of a liquid; a urethral catheter drain tube section extending through the urethra for drainage of a liquid; a ureteral catheter tube section extending through a ureter into the kidney and having a first tube portion for infusion of a liquid connected to the urethral catheter infusion tube section, and a second tube portion for drainage of a liquid. The method then includes flowing a therapeutically effective liquid into the kidney through the urethral catheter infusion tube section and the ureteral catheter first, infusion tube portion, and, simultaneously with the flowing of the fluid into the kidney, draining fluid from the kidney through the urethral catheter drain tube section and the ureteral catheter second, drain tube portion.

摘要: An environmentally friendly, pre-reacted product of a polyol and monomeric or polymeric polycarboxylic acid or polyglycerol is provided. The pre-reacted product may include glycerol and esters of citric acid such a monoglyceryl citrate, diglyceryl citrate, and triglyceryl citrate as well as other citric acid-based esters. The pre-reacted product, when used in a binder, helps to speed the crosslinking reaction, induces faster water evaporation, decreases the viscosity of the binder, helps to reduce the amount of water needed for application of the binder, and decreases tackiness. The pre-reacted product may be used, for example, in the formation of insulation materials and non-woven chopped strand mats.
