    摘要: A method for the preparation of quaternary modified acrylamide polymers is disclosed. Applicable to both solutions of acrylamide polymer and to water-in-oil emulsions of finely divided acrylamide polymer, the method involves reacting the acrylamide with a secondary amine formaldehyde adduct followed by quaternization with an alkylating agent and then, stabilization. The composition of these polymers is also disclosed.

The suppression system provides surge protection both locally close to the radio station building where the power plant and telecommunication equipment are located and remotely next to the radios and antennas located outside of the building on the communication tower. Local and remote suppression units may include monitor circuitry that monitor remote and local DC voltage levels and alarm conditions. The alarm conditions may include over-voltage protection failures, intrusions, and/or water infiltration. Displays on both the local and remote suppression units identify the voltage levels and alarm conditions.

    摘要: A multilayered coating system consisting of a multicomponent zirconia-base or hafnia-base oxide top layer, an interlayer comprised of a plurality of sublayers and a bond coat layer is provided. The multilayered coating system of the present invention, with an interlayer comprised of a plurality of sublayers, provides a protective coating solution for silicon-base ceramic components exposed to very high temperatures and/or high gas flow velocity water vapor combustion environments. The plurality of sublayers affords for a multitude of interfaces that aid in phonon scattering within the coating system and thereby reduces its thermal conductivity. Furthermore, the plurality of interlayer sublayers afford a strain tolerant buffer between the top layer and substrate and thereby accommodate the thermal expansion mismatch between the oxide top layer (coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) up to ˜8-10×10−6 m/m-C) and the silicon-base ceramic substrate (CTE≈4-5×10−6 m/m-C).

    摘要: A needle-free injection device in which a gas cartridge or other source of pressurized gas is used to advance a piston and forcibly expel injectable fluid out through an injection orifice. When a gas cartridge is used, the gas cartridge may be moveable from an initial position to an actuating position in which gas is released to drive the injection, and a recoil inhibiter may be employed to prevent the gas cartridge from moving back to the initial position. A gas cartridge seal may be disposed on the gas cartridge and moveable with the gas cartridge to seal the gas cartridge against an interior wall of a gas cartridge housing. The needle-free injection device may also be configured so that sealing is compromised upon full advancement of the piston, so as to de-pressurize the device after delivery of an injection.

The system includes a needle-free injector with an injection orifice of approximately 0.004 inches for supplying DNA-based medication at an initial pressure of from 3900 to 4300 psi, and then immediately declining to a level of about 2800 to 3800 psi, and then immediately cutting off pressure to terminate the injection. The injector includes an annular adapter for spacing the injection orifice from the skin of the patient. The adapter includes an abutment against which the injector is disposed so that the orifice is spaced approximately 0.76-1.0 inch from the skin of the patient, the adapter having an inner diameter at the distal end of approximately 0.50-0.70 inches.

    摘要: A improved thermal barrier coating and method for producing and applying such is disclosed herein. The thermal barrier coating includes a high temperature substrate, a first bond coat layer applied to the substrate of MCrAlX, and a second bond coat layer of MCrAlX with particles of a particulate dispersed throughout the MCrAlX and the preferred particulate is Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The particles of the particulate dispersed throughout the second bond coat layer preferably have a diameter of less then the height of the peaks of the second bond coat layer, or a diameter of less than 5 .mu.m. The method of producing the second bond coat layer may either include the steps of mechanical alloying of particles throughout the second bond coat layer, attrition milling the particles of the particulate throughout the second bond coat layer, or using electrophoresis to disperse the particles throughout the second bond coat layer. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the first bond coat layer is applied to the substrate, and then the second bond coat layer is thermally sprayed onto the first bond coat layer. Further, in a preferred embodiment of the invention, a ceramic insulating layer covers the second bond coat layer.
