    摘要: A memory cartridge which may be loaded in an attachable/detachable manner to a data processing apparatus, such as a hand-held electronic game machine having a central processing unit (CPU), includes logic control circuitry, a program read only memory (ROM), a bank changing circuit, and external random access memory (RAM). The external RAM is backed-up by a battery. First key data and second key data are initially stored in the program ROM. After a power source of the data processing apparatus is turned-on and a power source voltage reaches a predetermined value, a reset signal is provided to the memory cartridge to enable circuits on the memory cartridge. When the first key data is read from the program ROM and the reset signal is detected, the external RAM may be accessed by the CPU to read and write information from/into the external RAM. When the second key data is read from the program ROM, the CPU is inhibited from such access to the external RAM.

An alarm is raised in a different manner depending on whether an alarm is raised in the timepiece mode or the game mode.

    摘要: A lighting fixture for a vehicle includes: at least one light source; and a housing including a housing main body and an outer lens. The housing includes a partition wall which partitions a housing space, formed by the outer lens and the housing main body into a housing space exposed portion and a housing space shielded portion which houses and shields the at least one light source. The partition wall includes: at least one opening provided ahead of the at least one light source and through which outputted light passes from the housing space shielded portion to the housing space exposed portion; and at least one reflection wall portion including a reflection surface which reflects the outputted light toward a direction on the side of the vehicle such that an irradiating region of the outputted light is widened, and extending to the housing space exposed portion to shield the at least one light source so as to prevent the at least one light source from being visually contacted from a direction front of the vehicle. The irradiating light is formed by reflected light of the outputted light reflected by the reflection surface and outputted through the outer lens.

    摘要: To a CPU 10 in a portable game machine 1, a temperature detector 5 and a voltage detector 6 are connected. The temperature detector 5 detects an operating temperature of an LCD 4, and the voltage detector 6 detects a power supply voltage supplied by the LCD 4. Following a program stored in on-chip ROM 13, the CPU 10 calculates a driving voltage for the LCD 4 based on the detected temperature and voltage. At the same time, the CPU 10 selects, from among a plurality of character data items which are previously provided, at least one character data item and writes the selected data item into display RAM 11. The detected temperature and voltage each correspond to the character's age and action. As a result, correct colors can be displayed even in a case where the LCD 4 is adopting an Electrically Controlled Birefringence method. Further the character selected based on the temperature and voltage is displayed on the LCD 4.

Inside the wave guide layer 23, current blocking layers 24 having a lower refractive index and higher Al-composition than that of the wave guide layer and sandwich a strip-shaped active region 34. This creates a refractive index difference between the active region 34 and buried regions 33 in which each of the current blocking layers 24 exists, thereby forming a refractive index guide structure. Thus, it is possible to obtain a high-output semiconductor laser device of the refractive index guided type which is easy to manufacture.

    摘要: An electronic toy having a game function preferably includes a single display having a figure displaying region and a numerical value displaying region. A game mode is established upon operation of a game start switch. The figure displaying region includes an arrangement of a plurality of figure displaying segments and a predetermined one or a certain number of segments out of the plurality of segments is selectively activated for a display responsive to an operation of a game operation switch in the game mode, whereby a figure representation on the display is changeable in response to the operation of the game operation switch. A score counter evaluates a score of the game in response to the change of the figure representation. Upon operation of the game start switch, the content in the score counter is displayed by the numerical value displaying region. Current time information obtained from a timepiece apparatus may be displayed by the numerical value displaying region; however, upon operation of the game start switch, the numerical value displaying region is switched to display the score of the game, as described above. The movement of apparatus controlled symbols along any one of a plurality of paths is controlled in a manner substantially unknown or unpredictable by the player.
