The compound is useful as an intermediate for producing various compounds and can introduce perfluorocyclic ether groups into various polymers to give such properties as chemical resistance, water repellency, oil repellency, and weather resistance to the polymers.

The invention discloses a novel cyclic organopolysiloxane compound having one or more of 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl groups and one or more of alkenyloxy groups, e.g. isopropenyloxy group of the formula --O--C(CH.sub.3).dbd.CH.sub.2, each directly bonded to the silicon atom in a molecule. This novel organopolysiloxane compound is useful as a crosslinking agent for a hydroxy-terminated diorganopolysiloxane and a formulation of a room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition capable of giving a rubbery elastomer by curing is proposed comprising, each in a limited proportion, (a) a hydroxy-terminated diorganopolysiloxane, (b) the above disclosed novel cyclic organopolysiloxane having 2 or 3 alkenyloxy groups, (c) a second cyclic organopolysiloxane having 2 or 3 alkenyloxy groups each directly bonded to the silicon atom in a molecule and (d) a guanidino-containing organosilicon compound, e.g. 3-(tetramethylguanidino)propyl trimethyl silane, as a curing accelerator. This room temperature curable composition exhibits excellent curability and free from the problem of the formation of noxious condensation products as in the conventional RTV silicone rubber compositions.

A very efficient method is proposed for the synthetic preparation of pentamethylcyclotrisiloxane by the ring-closing reaction between 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1,3-dihydroxy disiloxane and a methyl dialkenyloxysilane such as methyl diisopropenyloxysilane at a moderate temperature in a solution with an organic solvent.

The invention provides a novel and improved room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition which is very stable over a long period of time if stored under an anhydrous condition but readily curable on exposure to moisture-containing atmosphere without producing no condensation products having toxicity, unpleasant odor or corrosiveness. The composition comprises, as the main component, an organopolysiloxane having at least three alkenyloxy groups bonded to the silicon atom or atoms in the organopolysiloxane molecule through a silhydrocarbylene linkage, e.g. silethylene linkage, and a curing accelerator.

The invention provides a novel epoxy-based resin composition which is storable as ready-mixed in one package in a sealed condition for a long time of period and yet is curable when exposed to the atmospheric air without heating by the action of the moisture contained in the atmospheric air to exhibit very strong adhesive bonding to various kinds of substrate materials. The inventive composition comprises (a) an epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups in a molecule, (b) a curing agent for the epoxy compound, and (c) an organosilicon compound, in particular, an organosilane compound or an organopolysiloxane, having, in a molecule, at least one group represented by the general formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group and R.sup.3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group, directly bonded to the silicon atom. The component (c) reacts with the component (b) when blended together to mask the activity of the curing agent but readily regenerate an active curing agent when reacted by the moisture in the atmospheric air even at room temperature effecting curing of the epoxy resin composition.

Novel room temperature curable organopolysiloxane compositions which are stable as ready mixed for a long period of time when kept in an air-tight container and readily curable at room temperature to form rubber-like elastomers when exposed to the moisture-containing air. The composition comprises a diorganopolysiloxane terminated at both chain ends with hydroxy groups, an organosilane having in a molecule 3 or 4 substituted or unsubstituted vinyloxy groups or a partial hydrolysis-condensation product thereof, and an organosilane or an organopolysiloxane having in a molecule at least one monovalent group expressed by the general formula of the type (R.sub.2 N).sub.2 C.dbd.N--, where R is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group. A class of novel organosilane compounds are disclosed as represented by the general formulaRSi(OCH.sub.2 CF.sub.3).sub.3,in which R is an atom or group selected from the class consisting of a hydrogen atom, unsaturated monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon groups having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms, monovalent aryl groups and monovalent organic groups having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms and containing at least one hetero atom, i.e. an atom other than carbon and hydrogen atoms, such as oxygen, halogens, sulfur and nitrogen, the said hetero atom-containing organic group being bonded to the silicon atom through a carbon-to-silicon linkage. Several particular compounds belonging to the class were synthesized and identified.

The invention provides a novel room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition useful as an adhesive or a sealing material with remarkably extended workable time owing to the delayed surface filming. The base component in the composition is a conventional diorganopolysiloxane terminated with hydroxy groups at both molecular chain ends admixed with several known ingredients such as a cross linking agent, curing catalyst, filler and the like. The most characteristic ingredient in the composition effective to achieve the above mentioned desired property is a 1,1,1-trimethyl-3-hydrocarbyl-3,3-di(acylamino)disiloxane which belongs to a novel class of organopolysiloxane compounds and method is described for the preparation of these siloxane compounds.
